anyone have any suggestions on shipping large items. my wife and I have a lot of baby items (crib, crib mattres, playpen, toys, etc) that we would like to ship across country (vegas to new york) to a cousin who's expecting. the items can be collapsed but still would be a box of about 3feet by 5 feet by 2 feet.

we have no hurry for it to reach there but places like UPS can get very expensive. someone suggested greyhound but i didn't know if that's even a possibility?

You could ship it LTL (Overnite, Yellow, CCX, Central etc) although you will need to take it to the terminal and they will palletize it and shrinkwrap it. UPS has a ground service that would also do this, but you would have to take it to the local terminal.

    Good Luck

Exactly what I was going to ask, bronxfan.

ROXSS, you don't have to include bronxfan's first post when you're the first reply... we know you're talking to him.

I have a computer I want to sell along with monitor and speakers... does anyone know how the shipping is figured out? I can weigh it with the bathroom scale.

    less than truckload

typically takes longer for the stuff to get where it's going

Sometimes ppl can make a smart ass remark that is not intended for the first poster, but rather the whole board. So thus I think it is necessary to quote the first poster.

I've done that many a times, but that wasn't the case in this particular thread, Mr. B.

So are you shipping something, too?

I need to ship some jalapeno chips to people in Boston. They don't get Uncle Bob's Chips over there. Its large, but not heavy though.

As mentioned, LTL is "Less then a Truckload" and in fact is quite fast. I use several carriers LTL and if you like I can help you out, just let me know

Swoly - Sorry about that, I have been off Clutch City for a few months and hit the wrong button. Good to be back

I am shipping a 60# computer in the coming months. I have a box, but would LTL be a good way to ship it?
