    Hey guys,

I have a date tomorrow and need some suggestions on some potential cool places to go. I've haven't been out in ages, so any suggestions would be welcomed. We're going to start off seeing Matrix tomorrow. Any cozy bars that aren't too expensive?

It's funny, I start going out a lot more when Rockets season is over.

So are you going out with your right hand or left hand?

What area of town are you in? I like going to the Rice Village. Brian O'Neill's is cool.

Take her to Agora for some coffee. It's like a ski lodge type of environment, very cozy, very intimate. It's on Westheimer I believe, across from Brasil and all those hipster clothing stores.

Or...you could take her to Benji's, which is always good.

Inexpensive on a Thursday? You're going to have to be more specific.

No specials on Thursday at any place if you are trying to impress.

Need more information, and what area of town you are in.

I dunno RIET, what's your girl's preference? :) jk dude.

I live on the SW side, but I don't mind driving far. I don't want to drive to Kemah, it's kinda boring there. Inexpensive as I don't wanna spend more than $100 for the both of us.

    Thanks again.

    Inexpensive?

I am the KING of inexpensive bars, aka dive bars. Here are some suggestions:

The Big Easy (on Kirby in the Village) - cheap drinks and great blues music

Little Woodrows (on W. Alabama near Greenbriar) - beer and wine only. Nice patio to hang out in.

Kay's Lounge (Bissonnet near Kirby) - beer and wine only, great alt country jukebox

The Roll-In (San Felipe inside the Loop) - cheap drinks and a great crowd

    Enjoy...rmt

Speaking of blues, Guy Forsythe is playing at the Mucky Duck tonight. Don't know if tix are still available though, but if they are, they're only ten bucks a pop.

    Yeah what they said...

Agora on Westheimer, Brasil Cafe, all that crap around there.
also, Warrens downtown is cozy. It also my favorite bar.

You could just go to Alabama Ice House. Its pretty laid back and plenty of picnic table to sit and talk. Or Jimmies Ice House near Fitzgeralds.

Or hell, just take her back to your place.
That sounds like the cheapest thrill to me!;)

Cool! A band I play with opened for Guy at the Rhythm Room last fall. He is one hell of a nice guy and a great player. I might have to go down there tonight.

once again... I'm glad I'm married.

Fox: "What do you want to do tonight honey?"

The Mrs.: "Just bring home MickeyD's; American Idol and the bachelor reunion show are on tonight."

Fox: "Baby, you're the greatest!" :)

On thursday's Velvet Melvin, which used to be called Woody's, has $2.00 you call its which is probably the best deal on Thursday's. It's a very college crowd atmosphere and is located on Richmond between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway.

If you want to go to a bar that's a little nicer go to Downing Street which is on Kirby and Westimer. You can go in there and get a 30 year scotch and the lady some nice wine. Nice place but a little yuppie.

In the same parking lot of Downing Street is Taco Millagro which is a really cool place to go with a chick. It has a patio outside and is really a festive and fun atmosphere. I would recommend that over any of the other spots if you are on a date. If you want to save the most money go to Velvet Melvin though.

La Caraffe - downtown in Market Square. Oldest building in Houston, very quaint and romantic.

Want to eat? King Biscuit on White Oak off of Houston Ave has a full menu and a bar!

Empire Cafe on Westheimer near Woodhead is a good place for coffee and dessert.

good luck and let us know what you ended up doing...

If you are really adventureous, look for the blue door of Marfreless under the stairs, in the River Oaks Shopping Center behind Back Door Sushi and the River Oaks 3 movie theatre... it's a dark, make out bar.

Just do what Dave Chapelle did in Half Baked. Walk around downtown for three hours, buy her a hot dog or a burger, then steal some money from a homeless guy and get her some ice cream...
