I was debating whether to ask this from this group - cause I am afraid of where this may lead. But we are having a small group of family/adults (older, say 35+..) coming over for a small little party / get together before everyone heads back out of town. I wanted to know if anyone had some fun party type games for us to play, that can be put together in a short time. Please, I know the temptation is there - but please keep it clean.
Hmmm... well.. if you're adults, and you're going to try to have fun by playing a game, first you're going to need to get liquor'ed up real good. And under that circumstance, you should get a karaoke machine. Another option is to throw a white elephant party. But if you do this, you must make sure thay everyone attending knows exactly what a white elephant party is and how it works. There's nothing worse than some idiot who unknowingly brings a real gift to a white elephant part.

Apples to apples is sort of a silly game, but if you enjoy the company, it's an interesting way of passing the time. It's probably more fun if you're not sober. Some other good group games are Taboo and Catchphrase. In both games, you try to get your teammates to guess the word on the card, but in Taboo you're not allowed to say certain obvious words, while Catchphrase is sort of like Hot Potato.

Taboo is *so* fun when you're drunk. It is especially fun when you pair up couples. "Honey! Didn't you know I mean to say 'supermarket'?" "I want a divorce, b****."
That game pisses me off sometimes. One round your humming "happy birthday", then the next time you have to hum Beethoven's Piano Sonata #19...you're thinking "WTF?!?!"

I never understood games like strip poker. If you want to get naked, take your clothes off. Or like when you play quarters - if you wanna get drunk, just pour the booze down your throat. No need to play a game.
But then there's no fun...There has to be an element of competition or accomplishment, like you've earned it...It's been years since I've played strip poker, always a good time with slutty girls...

Basically you do it like the show, husbands and wives split off and then have to answer questions about each other. Have a funny MC and a cool predetermined prize for the winning couple, and you're in business. It can be hilarious. #2 Talent show with prizes
