If Lin really has that much to worry about, and his mental physique cannot handle all the pressure, then maybe Kevin McHale is doing him a favor by having him come off the bench?

McHale has repeatedly mentioned that he doesn't want Lin thinking he needs to repeat Linsanity.

GG, less-voiced ideas get the lock. I guess this is why there is no sensible forum or innovation in sports outside of motorsports, which is intensely engineering-based.

How is this different than any other young player in the league? Every player continually has to adjust to the team game plan and find a way to fit in. Players who don't are out of the NBA, no matter how much they are being payed.

Look at Anthony Bennett, he was the #1 pick in the draft and he can't even get on the floor. Are the Cavs supposed to drop everything and adjust their team to fit the way HE wants to play? No, he has to adjust and adapt to the situation he is in.

Matt Maloney went from being an undrafted rookie to a starter on a Conference Finalist team to a huge multi-year contract to being out of the league in a span of 3 years. He couldn't adapt to the changing team dynamics, so he became obsolete.

The good thing is, Lin is talented and smart. I think he knows the things he needs to improve, and he has a better than average chance of being able to adjust to whatever situation he is thrown into.

That makes sense, but McHale saying so is different than what it is in action. Interestingly, at the beginning of Linsanity, D'antoni inserted Lin as a starter in the Jazz game so as to reduce pressure by not highlighting him as the major hero coming off of the bench.

Incorrect. Your "less-voiced" idea has a home in one of the other many, many Lin threads. No one is stifling your voice.

im sure lin knows that his situation sucks but at the same time im sure hes glad just to be having so many fans and a contract.

he knows he wont get traded unless hes packaged with somebody else. my guess is that he will leave houston after 2015 and sign somewhere he believes he will see more usage for less money.

and that team might only sign him for 1 or 2 years.

mchale doesnt want to utilize him. its clear. even though he gets touches the team doesnt run plays for him. and all the screens he seems to get are very lazy. i havent seen anybody set a HARD SOLID screen for him since he played in ny

Seems like McHale is doing Lin a favor by giving him the ability to run his own unit.

If anything, I would argue McHale is take tremendous pressure off of Lin.

You obviously feel passionately about this. Do you think Lin is improving the Rockets to the degree that he doesn't deserve any criticism? Do you think you know basketball and player matchups/rotations more than the Rockets' coaching staff?

Do you care that Willie Green played HS and college in Detroit, brought like 400 people to the game last night, and didn't play a minute? Does it suck to be Willie Green?

I don't understand what you're arguing here. Lin isn't being treated any different from any other player in the NBA. You just want him to be more than he is, so you're creating all these storylines to justify your idea of Lin.

We are not asking for this thread to be locked because of your opinion, although that is worthless as well IMO. We are asking it be locked, because nothing you are saying is worthy of polluting GARM with yet ANOTHER Lin thread. Your post belongs in one of our existing Lin threads, though it is debatable that it belongs at all. You might think you stumbled on some special thoughts or that your opinions are important somehow, but they have been repeated ad nauseam already.

But young players get shuffled around in roles... until the organization finds out what they are really good at. Everyone and their mother here on CF can tell you how Lin should be utilized, but in-game that doesn't seem to always happen. I agree with your points, but I feel like this could be mitigated with better strategic planning. Talent and smarts aren't always enough to overcome nerves when the green flag drops.

It does not suck to be Lin. I'm sure it's actually awesome to be Jeremy Lin.

What does fair have to do with anything? Is it fair Lin and his counterparts are making millions playing a game while so many other people live below the poverty line?

That gross over-valuation created by Morey was approved by Lin when he signed the contract. Why is everything being skewed as "not Jeremy's" fault here?

To put it more simply: why should the Rockets cater to Lin? They're simply trying to win as many basketball games as possible.

The thing is Lin is much better in P/R. With Howard on the roster, we don't run much PnR anymore so now he needs to shoot well to stay effective. Dwight Howard's PPP on Post-up's is 0.75. Houston's Opponent's PPP on Post-up's? 0.84. We have two of the best PnR guards in Harden and Lin. Stupid McHale...

Did I ask for the organization and team to adjust to Lin? No. I am simply listing a collection of inputs to the system that we know as the player by the name of Jeremy Lin, which are altogether grueling to any player.

This is what his agent should do:

Sign him up for a pair of those beats noise canceling headphones like Sherman and shut out all the noise from his critics AND fans, and just play ball.

Paying him 25mil is someone else's problem, not his. Play ball, go all out, and let the chips fall where they may.

And no, it does not suck to be Jeremy Lin, in the grand scheme of things.

Which was the only contract he had AKA signing his way into staying in the NBA.

Geez reading comprehension on this forum... #sosumi
