Looking at JVG history in NY. JVG was a coach who would go far into the playoffs with low seeded teams. The 99 NY Knicks went to the NBA finals as an 8th seed.

Not to say that we will go deep into the playoffs but would YOU like more wins in the regular seasons or longer playoff run.

That doesn't happen to a Houston team. We usually choke in the play off except for those two years. God I wish we still Dream in his prime play'n for the ROX.

Rockets might go further than 2nd round, since every postoff game will be on national TV. :D

Damn this team went from a bunch of nobodies that will never make the playoffs to a potential 60 win team. I like that optimism, but I think 50 wins at most is what we're talking about right now. It'll all depend on how well they do in the soft month of February, and if they can play atleast .500 ball in march and april. I think they'll atleast go 1 game over .500 for the closing two months with a strong month of february.

I dont agree that they choke...the other times they have been in contention for the finals, they were against superior teams when they lost.

    perfect example....
80-81 they made it to the Finals against a loaded Bird-led Celtics team
and then the next time they made it to the Finals in 85-86 against another loaded Celtics team and lost again.

you could argue that the years between 80-81 and 85-86 they choked....but they were not significantly better than the teams that knocked them out...therefore, not a choke in my eyes.

in the years after 85-86, two very good teams in the Magic led LA Lakers ....and the Sonics(who had always given us problems)...knocked them out in the first round

the years between the championships and 99-00(when the last of the old players were gone except for a aged Dream) were painful since the Jazz, Sonics, and Lakers knocked them out...

you might be able to call the year that Dallas knocked them out in 87-88 a choke..and I might agree....but I dont see significant evidence of consistent chokes in the playoffs over the years..

I see losses to damn good team in the playoffs...nothing to be ashamed of.

theres "fans" on this board that keep saying we will drop out of play off contension around april....

they ACTUALLY think that we cant at least place 8th.

who is going to knock us from 6th all the way to 9th? who?
the jazz? the supersonics? the grizzlies?

I'm rooting for a 52-30 finish!!!! and i calculated that with a loss against the timberwolves...but hey...were kicking some butt right now!

I was taking his comment to mean a team in general and not the Rockets. I think his point is that the Rockets will probably win between 40-50 and be a low seed. His question is would you rather have a poor regular season and go far in the playoffs (like the Rockets will do :D ) or have a great regular season and get knocked out early (like the T-Wolves will do :D )

I think the better season is who goes further in the playoffs ... bottom line. The further you get, the better position you put yourself in during the regular season.

I think it's widely recognized that the playoffs is all that counts so the poll seems pointless to me.
