Is it just me? Even if you make a big lead, you still have to counteract opponent substitutions. Despite a big lead, you still have to substitute. Rudy seems to love keeping A squad playing throughout the whole first and third quarter no matter what. No strategy or anything, just same players. Torres and Griffin did not get enough minutes. Probably partially because Mobley wanted to stay on the floor, but can't Torres guard Sprewell or Houston. Hell yes he can, he was sticking them when he was in there. Granted KT was playing well, but Griffin can't spot minutes at the 5 against Camby, in foul trouble mind you? Besides counteracting the other team, substituting gets new blood out there, more energy. Rudy goes whole quarters without a single substitution?? WTF?! I'll live and die a diehard Rocket fan but this is a joke. I understand we are without our franchise. That doesn't mean we shouldn't win games against sub-par teams. God forbid I say it, Rudy has been a joke. Substitutions??? (Yes I'm worked up!)
I agree with you. It has nothing to do with Francis because the same thing happened when he was there. Rudy does not have a rotation. He lacks imagination. He needs a two week clinic of watching Utah and Sac games where he can see imaginative offenses.
U R SOOOOO RIGHT! G can guard camby but the question really was can camby guard EG? and from wut i've read mobley seemed too anxious. y not give th last shot to rice? 20 points and against the knicks! Y NOT RICE?
I agree 100% I thought they took EG out a little early in the 1st half and all 2nd half I was waiting for Rudy to put him back in.I surely thought he was coming in after the KT/Spree scene but no!
Perhaps we should all get in a big circle and chant "Play Ed-die, play Ed-die". I've tried everything else, but Rudy is stuck in one rotation!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I'm going crazy! Cu-ckoo! lalalalallalalalallala
Rice looked tired at the end...they decided to stop going to him after his last shot selection...a lazy lateral fadeaway jumper! that was the knicks plan all along...did you see how they kept running houston with rice guarding him? the knicks knew rice's old ass would be too tired to be effective at the end. anyways I'm sure mobley begged for the ball in the end as he is our "clutch" guy, but damn mobes! He didn't get any decent shots off, just tried to jack up a couple of prayers. Torres and EG were the catalysts in todays games...rudy is too damn afraid to take a chance with the game on the line..."Huhh...damn Torres is playing great and Eddie is really dominating the paint...I think I better sit them down because mobley and KT might get jealous.." what a putz.
Is there any way we email Rudy or somebody on the coaching staff? It's time someone said something to him.
If you genuinely believe what you are saying, tell him. The coach doesn't hide. He is on the radio (950 KPRC) and takes calls every Wednesday from 6-7pm (when there is no game conflict).
I complained about the substitutions all last year, but no one seemed to think much of it. There were games where Hakeem would have 20 points, 10 boards, and 5 blocks, and Rudy's fourth quarter lineup was: Francis Mobley Norris Bullard Thomas The Rockets lost a lot of games because of those lineups last year. Nothing has changed.
Whatever, The Rockets choked....the PLAYERS choked, not the coach. He was not the one missing wide open shots. Tired players....please...did the Knicks look tired at the end? NO !!! Defense....hello....DEFENSE...... DaDakota
Though I agree that the players choked this one away on both sides of the ball, take a look at these numbers: Cato: 0 4th quarter minutes. Griffin: 0 2nd half minutes. What exactly did they do to warrant sitting them? Did them playing like big men scare Rudy? It just strikes me as odd that Cato would sit the entire 4th quarter when he had clearly outplayed Willis. What are you telling Griffin by benching him for the entire 2nd half after he was a catalyst in opening the game up in the 2nd quarter?
Yep Kidrock and all it got us was the ONLY 2 major championships in Houston sports history. Maybe, just maybe he knows a little more then you. DaDakota
Rudy isn't the coach now he was then. He had olajuwon to cover his butt, but this team isn't quite as talented as that one was...so a little bit more strategy is needed, and rudy doesn't seem to want to step up to the challenge. Why didn't rudy try to add some life to the team with a substitution when we were in the scoring drought? Instead he sticks to the same people...
I didn't even know the Rockets had a game tonight. Tells you how much I've been following them lately. I felt this team was toast when Francis went down. But to lose a 17 point lead late in the third quarter, there's just no excuse. By the time Francis gets back, this team will probably be dead and buried.
DaDakota-Rudy never really had to make too many adjustments when we were winning rings. We were the best team in the league those 2 years. Top shelf teams don't need to make adjustments. Rather, the Rockets opponents had to. Thanks for playing.
