I really feel like I should be able to answer this question myself but this has really been driving me crazy lately. I'm running WinXP Pro and when I put an audio CD in either my CD-ROM or CD-RW drive I can't see .wav files. All I see are small .cda files. I know that these .cda files are index files that tell XP where to play the .wav files and when I double click on them I do indeed hear the songs. I would really like, however, to actually view the .wav files so I could copy them to my harddrive. I don't want to export them as .wma or .mp3 or .ogg files; I want no loss in compression. I have been through the folder options and looked online and can find no answer to my plight. So does anyone with any experience with my problem know how to enable me to view .wav files on audio CD's using Windows Explorer on WinXP?
http://www.tucows.com/cdrip95_default.html just try any CD Ripping software, WAV format is an option to save the files as..
I realize I can do that but I would prefer not to. I've had bad experiences with ripping software that was either not free or free and poorly coded. It just seems to me that there has to be some way to see the .wav files in wixp. Maybe there isn't and I have to use ripping software. That just seems odd to me and I keep believing that there has to be a solution native to winxp...
