Me and the wife are heading down for the game that night but trying to find out what might be a fun place to head after the game to ring in the New Year. Had considered BLT at Lucky's but wary of spending a little under $200 buck for 2 tickets. Any recommendations for other events in Downtown?
http://culturemap.com/eventdetail/new-years-eve-hyatt/ We are going to the Hyatt for New Years. Our friends went last year and they said it was pretty cool. We like that we don't have to worry about driving and dealing with idiots on the road. We usually have a big party at our house and don't feel like doing it this year. We are actually saving money since we usually spend a ton on food, drinks, and fireworks.
i did NYE at House of Blues last year and had a blast... the drinks in the Foundation Room are outrageously priced however...
http://www.gloworama.com/ If you're on a budget you should look into this. It's free and in downtown. I've got a room at the Hilton Americas for $129 so everything is right there. Gloworama lasts till 12. House of Blues is 4 blocks away and has a free party which I plan to go to after midnight if there's nothing better to do. You just have to RSVP to HOB for the free party. Now the last thing I need are some lower level seats to the game that night and that'll be the perfect New Year's Eve.
I was at the Hotel Zaza for a wedding on October 30, and the Halloween party in the bar there looked pretty awesome. The next morning, we met up with some people that said that they do Halloween and NYE every year there. Maybe worth a try.
The Monarch is really nice but pretty pricey. I went on a Thursday evening so it was really chill, not sure what it's like if it's busy. Grendal - I've done NYE in downtown twice and it was extremely hit or miss. One year we had tickets and a table at Venue, it was a really good time and one of the better NYE parties I've been too. Another year we just went without making plans and it was the WORST idea possible. Every place had a long line and really expensive cover, we finally got inside just to wait 23-30 minutes for each drink because it was so packed. I highly recommend making some plans (i.e. finding a party and buying tickets beforehand) if you plan on doing downtown.

Appreciate all the suggestions folks, I'll probably just pick up a pair of BLT tickets since we've always been curious about it, since we'll be nicely toasty by the time we get out of the game a decent wait for drinks probably won't hurt as much. $79 for all inclusive booze sounds like a decent deal compared to some of the hotel packages, we are staying at The Alden hotel so was just looking for something kind of close, taxi distance at least.
