    LARK COUNTY
Student Arrested For Terroristic Threatening Says Incident A Misunderstanding

A George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.

Winchester police say William Poole, 18, was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Investigators say they discovered materials at Poole's home that outline possible acts of violence aimed at students, teachers, and police.

Poole told LEX 18 that the whole incident is a big misunderstanding. He claims that what his grandparents found in his journal and turned into police was a short story he wrote for English class.

"My story is based on fiction," said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. "It's a fake story. I made it up. I've been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies."

Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. "Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it's a felony in the state of Kentucky," said Winchester Police detective Steven Caudill.

Poole disputes that he was threatening anyone.

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."

On Thursday, a judge raised Poole's bond from one to five thousand dollars after prosecutors requested it, citing the seriousness of the charge.

Poole is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

How freaking stupid is this? Did they think the kid as the ability to summon zombies or something? Can you believe his grand parents sold him out? They couldn't talk to him themselves, they just went straight to the police. That's some good parenting.

9/11 changed everything. It's all excused when you mention those words.

There's more to this story if his grandparents turned him in.

That is what I was thinking Bobrek.

BUT...if it is a fictional story, it is stupid.

It is getting like minority report, pretty soon thinking of doing a crime will get you arrested.

Imagine Stephen King or Edgar Allen Poe in high school today.

This is a joke. Wait until the ACLU gets their hands on this one. Zombies? Can this kid raise the dead? I know what happened. His illiterate grandparents were embarassed that their grandson could even write a story and turned him in to the cops.

what kind of grandparent would turn their grandson in. especially for something like that. They didn't even talked to him about it, and let him explain it. What were they afraid of? that he would summon some zombies and kill them:confused:

That's the reason I think bobrek was onto something. Most grandpaprents wouldn't do something drastic unless they are nute or there is more to the story.

Just wait a few weeks and se what leaks out. Perhaps the grandparents were wrong, or perhaps thy did the right thing.

I had a friend who's grandparents wouldn't give their grandson an alibi about a felony assault even though he was at their house during the alleged assault. The grandparents were pissed at him and his mom for some reason and he ended up in jail for it.

Just because they are grandparents doesn't mean they have any sense. I would even argue most grandparents don't have any sense.

How do you know they didn't talk to him about it? How do you know what else may have been going on in their home?

If this kid is like one of those Loner kids that likes to write and no one understands him then his Grandparents might have thought something.

I would like to see what this kid was like in school and outside of school. I think how he interacted with people or he kept to himself had somethign to do with the grandparents mistaking it as a plot to do something like Colobine or whatever because those kids were kind of loners etc.

Almost all the great writers at my school kept to themselves especially ones that were into science ficiton and stuff like that...so i think they might have taken that and judged a little too quickly.

This is ridiculous, zombies can't premeditate murder.

Somebody needs to arrest Eddie Vedder for that Jeremy Song, ex post facto that mother****er. Seriously, it's a story about zombies. Zombies. . .

Well, you can't rape the willing!

Nah, but seriously, I'd have totally been busted for "premeditating" slapping my hot newspaper teacher's ass.

i do not know that. Nobody knows the entire story(atleast nobody on this bbs). But if you believe the boy, then if the grandparents did talk to them he would have told them it was a fictional story, and then i do not think the grandparents would report him to the police.\
Otherwise if they wanted t get back at him for something. they would probobly no talk to him about the fact that they are planning it. So i think they did not talk to him.

Ofcourse nobody know exactly what happened. But i think it is strange that somebody would report their grandchildren to the police for something as stupid as a fictional story. But there are strange people in the world.
