What I just went through the past 36 hours made Denver look like a Candyland. All Dallas flights were cancelled Friday afternoon when I arrived at LAX. I got on a Dallas flight finally at 6 PM tonight. I spent 27 hours in the LAX terminal. Watched some bowl games. Watched Kobe get beat by the Bobcats. Saw Snoop Dogg this morning entering the VIP lounge. Tried for 10 hours to get on stand-by flights starting at 6 AM until finally giving up and taking the last seat on a 6 PM flight. At least when I finally got back to Dallas my luggage they that United lost came back and I was able to get it back. I'm pretty much never going to set foot on an airplane for the rest of my life after this.
The chaos at DIA is still going and it bit me today. I'm trying to get to Hong Kong and I had a transfer at Denver. Got stuck on the tarmac at DIA for about 4 hours by the time I get to SF for the flight to Hong Kong all United Asia flights have left. They can't put me on another United direct flight to Hong Kong tomorrow so they're flying me to Beijing and then I have to transfer to an Air China flight to Hong Kong. At least they're putting me up in the airport Best Western but I don't have my luggage and don't have a change of clothes or even a toothbrush. I'm a little worried about the Air China transfer and get the feeling I might be stuck at Beijing airport or my luggage might not make it. UNITED AIRLINES SUCKS!
