Im sure you have all noticed that Steve Francis is absent on the US Basketball team roster. It's no surprise that the Chairman for the US team is Stu Jackson... the same guy who drafted Stevie to Vancouver. He seems to still be bitter about the whole situation.

This guy is a joke... and Im not just talking about the fact that he did not even consider Francis. Look at this roster....

    Ray Allen
    Mike Bibby?
    Elton Brand?
    Kobe Bryant
    Nick Collison?
    Tim Duncan
    Allen Iverson
    Richard Jefferson?
    Jason Kidd
    Karl Malone?
    Tracy McGrady
    Jermaine Oneil?

All the players with ?'s next to their name should not be on the team in my opinion. The US team just got waxed in the Championships landing in 6th PLACE!!!!! We need to send our BEST of the BEST and stop messing around. I now see that Stu Jackson is the reason things are so bad. The fact that he could not get the following players on the team is an absolute failure:

    Shaquile O'neil
    Kevin Garnett
    Paul Pierce
    Steve Francis
    Chris Webber
    Ben Wallace
    Gary Payton

Shaq and Garnett could have been easily peruaded if they had made an extra effort. I think Peirce is the only member of the last squad who deserves to be on this team. He was the only threat. Steve Francis, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace, and Gary Payton are by far better than half the team they have now. This should be the roster..... Period.

    C Shaquille Oneil
    C Ben Wallace
    PF Kevin Garnett
    PF Tim Duncan
    PF Chris Weeber
    SF Paul Pierce
    G/F Kobe Bryant
    G/F Tracy McGrady
    SG Steve Francis
    SG Allen Iverson
    PG Jason Kidd
    PG Gary Payton

Now, thats a "Dream Team." Notice how you dont even hear the term "Dream Team," anymore. That's because Stu Jackson is at the helm for this current squad. Whoever hired this guy? They should have learned from his remarkable Job he did in Vancouver. He is the reason the Franchise went to s%it and moved to Memphis. Please somebody get rid of this guy and restore the US Basketball squad back to "Dream Team" Status!!!!!

I agree except for Jermaine O'neal.

They only way Shaq would play is if Phil Jackson was coaching.

That is absolutely true, I'm not here to say who should be off the team but Steve should of at least being considered. IMO Francis is better than Bibby.

Shaq would have played if they came to his house and begged him. That's what you have to do! Shaq has a bitter relationship with US basketball heading back to the Original 92' Dream Team. He should have been on the roster but instead they picked Christian Laetner... a huge mistake.

Despite his faults, Stevie SHOULD be on the team. Mike Bibby?? Nice player, but no Steve Francis.

It's a shame that some of these guys (Shaq & KG) aren't BEGGING to play for their country. Especailly after the embarrassing finish last time. If it were me, I'd be counting the days until payback time.

They should be fine with t-mac Duncan and kobe all newbies to the team. But your right the team should be much better. Oh well since 96 the interest of the dream team has gone way down. You would think they would want the best players to pump the interest back into this thing oh well I guess it makes to much sense.

You have to realize that Steve Francis didn't make into All NBA team also.

Not only first team, second team, he failed to make All NBA third team also. So obviously Stu Jackson has a quite bit of company.

Stu Jackson is the same moron who pulled off the Otis Thorpe for Memphis No. 2 pick trade.

.... and he is rewarded by being the head man at USA Basketball.

I think that shows why we got our ass kicked by Argentina right there.

I wouldn't put Francis on that team. They don't need anyone to skip down the court and dribble through their legs until the shot clock is about to expire.

Didn't Steve dish out 10 assists in the last All star game? I think he's pretty good at sharing the ball when he has a little more confidence at his teammates.

Mike bibby is the most overated player in this league, just because he had a good series against the lakers doesn't mean he's a superstar. Richard Jefferon ?? What R they thinking?

Duncan and Jermaine don't like to play C. Who's going to play C?

Me, I'd like our best players to play.

    Duncan
    O'Neil
    TMac
    Kobe
    Kidd

And sub in Brand, Ray Allen, and Bibby. Let Kobe and Tmac flip flop when they need a blow.

But I guess they'll go with

    Duncan/ O'Neil...... Collison?
    Malone/Brand
    TMac/Jefferson
    Kobe/RayAllen....... Ivy?
    Kidd/Bibby

That should be enough. I would prefer some other player selections, too. Maybe not the same as you. We don't have a real 3, for one thing. Have to x off the guys who didn't want to go. And yeah, Stu has a really bad track record. Don't know why he's got this gig.

Should be fun to see Larry coach.

Somebody needs to tell Karl Malone that points scored in international competition do NOT count towards Kareem's all time scoring record; he'd surely quit the team then and we could replace him with any number of better players.......:p
