Clear jab at the system here, twice calling out being asked two run pass plays for two yards, and then expecting miracles from the receivers. "That's the thing in this offense, every play just doing your job -- even if it means gain of 2 [yards]. That's what we're being asked to do. That's what we're asked of, so that's something I'm still getting used to. "I think when that time comes, we got to find answers, and that's where/when the ball is getting out for 2 yards, that's when I trust wideout [Xavier Hutchinson] or one of the guys on the outside to make somebody miss and get 8 [yards]. So, that's the type of offense we're living in." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...three-game-home-stretch-49ers-broncos-jaguars
I read the article and I’m not sure I agree that he was complaining or ripping anything. I’m not sure what he was really saying. I think he was just saying they need to do better and they are still learning the offense. Players need to execute.
Running backwards & holding onto the ball, is that what you’re also asked to do too? Slowik’s fault. Caley’s fault. Caserio’s fault. Demeco’s fault. If he needs everything perfect around him, better have a “properly adjusted” contract when/if you pay him. This is what he wanted, more power, more (full?) control at the line. Didn’t like Slowik, not “meshing” with Caley. Oh, now Caley wants 2 yard plays. “That’s what we’re asked to do.” Does Joe Burrow have a good line (or defense)? What about Baker currently missing his OL AND WRs? Or Dak missing 2 OL (and defense that can’t stop anyone). Or Herbert missing his two stud tackles. (Alt just came back this week) Deshaun’s lines/weapons were just as bad (if not worse). “WeLl DeShAuN iS mOrE mObiLe!” (Hot take: give me pre-massage Deshaun over Stroud) Spoiler 2017 OC: Bill O’Brien RB: Lamar Miller, D’Onta Foreman, Alfred Blue WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Mr. Glass Will Fuller(10 games), Bruce Ellington, Braxton Miller TE: Stephen Anderson, Ryan Griffin, CJ Fiedorowicz OL: Chris Clark | Xavier Su'a-Filo | Nick Martin | Jeff Allen | Breno Giacomini 2018 OC: Bill O’Brien RB: Lamar Miller, Alfred Blue WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Mr. Glass Will Fuller(7 games), Keke Coutee, Demaryius Thomas, DeAndre Carter, Bruce Ellington, Vyncint Smith TE: Ryan Griffin, Jordan Akins, Jordan Thomas OL: Julién Davenport | Senio Kelemete | Nick Martin | Zach Fulton | Kendall Lamm 2019 OC: Tim Kelly RB: Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Mr. Glass Will Fuller(11 games), Kenny Stills, Keke Coutee, DeAndre Carter TE: Jordan Akins, Darren Fells OL: Laremy Tunsil | Max Scharping | Nick Martin | Zach Fulton | Tytus Howard 2020 OC: Tim Kelly RB: David Johnson, Duke Johnson WR: Brandin Cooks, Mr. Glass Will Fuller(11 games), Randall Cobb, Keke Coutee, Chad Hansen, Kenny Stills TE: Jordan Akins, Darren Fells, Pharaoh Brown OL: Laremy Tunsil | Max Scharping | Nick Martin | Zach Fulton | Tytus Howard ________________________________________________________________ 2023 OC: Bobby Slowik RB: Devin Singletary, Dameon Pierce WR: Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Noah Brown, Robert Woods, John Metchie TE: Dalton Schultz, Brevin Jordan OL: Laremy Tunsil | Tytus Howard | Michael Deiter | Shaq Mason | George Fant 2024 OC: Bobby Slowik RB: Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, Cam Akers, Dare Ogunbowale WR: Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Stefon Diggs, John Metchie, Robert Woods TE: Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover OL: Laremy Tunsil | Kenyon Green | Jarrett Patterson | Shaq Mason | Tytus Howard 2025 OC: Nick Caley RB: Nick Chubb, Woody Marks WR: Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, Jayden Higgins, Christian Kirk, Jaylin Noel TE: Dalton Schultz, Harrison Bryant OL: Aireontae Ersery | Laken Tomlinson | Jake Andrews | Ed Ingram | Tytus Howard
What else can explain this? “That's what we're asked of, so that's something I'm still getting used to.” “So, that's the type of offense we're living in."
