FWIW: Saw this after a note that Julian Taveras was designated for assignment.

Special assignment scouts from the Astros, Dodgers, and Brewers have been on hand during this series to watch the Sox and Twins. All three teams are looking for relief pitching.

If he does, hide the bullpen phone. We wouldn't want him breaking his hand again.

you even posted a link to the article...gotta get the name right.. Tavarez.

We always got pissed when they pronounced Willy's last name wrong (pronouncing it "Tavarez").. we should be able to get this guy's name right. Ok I'm done.

I'm surprised they're scouting him. Our bullpen seems to be settling down. Their roles are fairly defined now:

    CL: Valverde
    Setup: Brocail
    7th/Multiple innings: Villarreal
    7th/Lefty: Wes Wright
    Middle Relief: Geary
    Lefty/Middle Relief: Byrdak
Long Relief/Spot Starter: Bork and Moehler

The only holes I see are a concrete 7th inning guy or lefty specialist. Taverez doesn't fill either of those holes. He would be an upgrade over Bork or Moehler but only marginal if they keep pitching well.

Sure our bullpen doesn't match the Lidge/Dotel/Wagner or at the best Qualls/Wheeler/Lidge but its pretty good right now.

Well done. I'm chastened, and apologetic.
