Holy ***** we are only 4 1/2 games behind Dallas for the 2nd seed in the West. We need to go atleast 3-1 in our final 4 games before the break to put pressure on teams above us. I'm not just looking at getting the 8th seed right now we can still secure a top 4 spot with our schedule.
patience my young friend, this offense is improving day by day. 46% shooting, 23 assists. had it not been for 18 turnovers, we might have scored 100 pts again. good things are coming rocket fans. just sit back and enjoy the ride.
That's exactly right, we need to go 3-1 to have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Every game counts, and I am happy to see that we have responded well since the philly loss. Now we need to take 3 of four and be 31-21 at the break. that's good position, and after the break, we have to go a difficult 19-11. Those 19 wins are gong to be hard, because the schedule toughens up. But everyone healthy then it's doable. Will 50 wins be enough to make the playoffs? Hard to say. I think so but barely, I just can't see Denver winning 50 games, nor can I see Portland doing the same. 50 wins should be good enough for the 8th seed.
Now we are back to 9th.Blazors lost though they pushed themselves really hard. I believe we can win 3 out of the 4, otherwise we may not be able to make our way back to top 8.
It's just hard for me to get too excited about wins against bad teams. That's all we did last season ... but against the good teams we couldn't cut it. The Golden State win impressed the hell out of me. But if we were really turning a corner I wouldn't have expect all three of the last games to go down to the wire. I guess Minnesota has been playing better of late, though.
This team has a long, long way to go before we are running on all the cylinders. We barely beat some bad teams. I'd be happy if we can just get in the playoffs as 7 or 8th seed and face someone like the Mavs or Spurs in the 1st round.
We definitely need to finish strong. We especially need to play well at home. Our home performance has been way too weak. I can't believe that that will continue throughout the season. It's phenomenal how close the race is this year.
we're gonna g 4-0. and hopefully make a move to improve the talent in the rotation. then we will be in prime position to make a huge second half run!
Since Tmac is back from injury with Yao and him in the lineup the team is undefeated.... The only loss was to Utah, and we should have beaten them too......even with Yao out. Rollin rollin rollin....keep dem rockets rollin.....rawhide !! DD
IF we can go 4-0 to the break, then we're probably sitting in the top 8. And (results pending) there's a real chance we'd have picked up 1 or 2 games on San Antonio or New Orleans. First game after the break is New Orleans/ Dallas, so conceivably, one game after the break, we could be at 33-20, with New Orleans and San Antonio at 35-18 and 33-18 respectively. 4 big games puts us right back in the thick of the hunt for the top seeds!
Yeah, and then March looms. Make no mistake, the Rockets MUST take care of business this February. Because they're gonna be fighting an uphill battle all the way to the end of the season. The best case scenario is that by the end of this month, the team has finally hits its stride and is peaking heading into March. Then they will be able to hang with the big boys, and hopefully a few big wins over elite Western Conference opponents will land them a well-deserved spot in the postseason. But believe me --- if these Rockets aren't playing at a higher level in three weeks' time, they're doomed.
again, i don't care what spot we are in. i just want to see us beat those elite teams. i don't care if we sweep all the teams we're supposed to beat and don't win enough v. the elite teams. in the playoffs, all u face are great teams. what's the point of getting a good seed if we can't beat the good teams, which i know we can. despite our struggles, we have already proven to beat jazz, lakers (though not the new look one), pistons, suns, warriors, spurs, nuggets, blazers, orlando. i think by march, we'll be rolling, but again, take it one game at a time.
3-1 isn't good enough. We're 8-2 in our last 10 games and what did that get us? we moved from 10th place to 9th place, and only by 1/2 game. Welcome to the Western Conference. We must go 4-0. We must win 9 out of 10 games (or better) and we must continue to do so consistently. And even then, it's gonna be very very tough. It's just VERY difficult in this conference to make the playoffs. If we were in the East, we'd be in 4th place. But we're not. We're in the West. And in the West, you gotta win, win, win, win some more, and keep winning.
48 wins will likely be enough for the playoffs. That's only a 59% win rate from now until the end of the season. Although 4-0 would be very nice, 3-1 will keep us in the race. Anything below that is very bad, though.
