Where is he? Rebounding, scoring...? His presence is surely not being felt.

He is going though a Adjustment period. I give him till half way through the season to get used to his role and Teammates. it's far to early to be writing him off. remember Tracy had a real slow start last season to.

I'm starting to understand what Memphis X said about him. The guy can really disappear.

He had 6 REBs in 19 minutes. Problem was he also had 5 fouls and is still finding his way. It's gonna come slow but hopefully it will come. It's only 2 games but I think some expectations of him here are morphing closer to reality.

If someone still thinks Stro should start, I dare you to say so and intelligently explain why.

I honestly regret ever thinking that I thought Swift could compete with Juwan for the starting 4 spot...Swift looks lost and confused on both ends of the floor, particularly defensively...Head looks more aware out there than Swift...its really sad...right now, swift is just relying on his athleticism to bail him out of the fact that he has yet to even remotely grasp any concept of JVG's schemes...I think, at this point, the comparisons to Cato are right on point...

Swift has raw offensive talent, and he needs a big man to teach him how to play like a big man. But make no mistake about it: this guy has tremendous talent/skills, but he needs the right coaching/investment in him (with time) and he will shine.

Swift also needs a few plays called for him, he's just not going to create his own chances out there.

This team is a work in progress, and I would not be surprised if, simply put, some pieces just don't fit the puzzle, and JVG -- understanding that -- would opt to make more roster changes before the trade deadline.

He is still learning team defense... And JVG requires the highest of standards when it comes to that subject matter. So you will not see him yet as a replacement for Juwan.

Learning??? Are you guys for real, how many years has he been in the league. It is early in the season and I hope he comes around but I am not holding my breath that he will ever be a superstar or even better than JH.

I love his athleticism, but not sure how much he has between his ears.

I'ma tell you why...Stromile is definitly one of the most athletic players in the game, he's exactly what the Rockets needed. He also can back Yao at any time since he played C in Memphis. He got to start since he never had the chance to do so, even if he was playing with a team that was just starting to win in the NBA. I remember, everybody was so excited about him coming to Houston and now since he had a slow start people are saying the guy ain't ready to start, he ain't though enough mentally and that.. Bull****! Stro will find his game, don't worry. Hope the Rocks won't get too worried about his start to the season like some of you dumb fans (micah1j = great example)

No, not everyone. Some of us remembered the knock against him in Memphis as being too ...well..."mentally challenged" to get the defense. Given that JVG's D is much more difficult (more switches), this was a train wreck anyone could see. If two very good coaches in Memphis couldn't teach him anything, there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason JVG would succeed.

That being said, it's still early. I'd be ecstatic if he rounded into Cato-like form by the playoffs.

Not going to jump to conclusions yet, I still see a massive upside in the signing of Stro and believe he will be one of those players who will excel under JVG in time.

Either that or its wishful thinkin :(

You guys should give Swift a break because he does look like he's still trying to find his place on the team.

I think we definitely need to give him the ball to go one on one and use his ability to score inside, in order to get his confidence up. Swift look like 1st year Yao out there, with teammate not really giving him the ball even when he's in pretty good position.

We definitely need to be more patient.

Stro doesnt seem to catch a break on the fouling either! I mean the refs are just not giving him any leeway. I think that really takes him out of his game and really reduces his effectiveness.

This thread reminds me of the "T-Mac is not as good as we thought, the trade was bad" thread. It will become a classic in due time

what's silly is people refusing to accept that Swift is who he is. The thing about McGrady and last year's start, McGrady started to play like he historically played, if Swift plays like he has played historically, he will put up some good games and he will have games like the first two. The only reason these threads will be classic is everyone predicting he is magically gonna turn into an All-Star.
