Ok, I've heard enough of too many peeps wanting this guy and him being the answer at the 4.

I don't see it in this guy. All I see is an athletic flashy player that doesn't have the blue collar intangibles that we need. Can he hit the midrange jumper that we need? Can he be a 9 to 10 rebound guy that alleviates Yao of board duties? Would he be a good entry passer to Yao? Does he have a high bball IQ? Do we really want to sign him to a fat long contract that will tie us up ala MoT?

I say no to Swift unless it's cheap and doesn't tie us up in case he stinks and isn't the answer at the 4.

Let's hear the pro "Swift to the Rox" fans.

I agree. Just because Swift is a flashy dunker doesn't make him into the gritty PF that the Rockets need. Besides, how big is he? He looks kinda skiinny and frail for a guy who's supposed to be a hardnosed defender.

You know who the Rockets could really use...Everybody wait for it...

    Wait for it....

    Wait for it....

    OTIS THORPE!!!!!!!!!

Too bad he is retired. But who are the modern OT's out there in the league right now?? If there are any, they are few and far between....A PF that shoots at least 55% FG and can score 15 points and grab 10 boards consistently...I can dream...

Agreed. I don't think we will have enough to sign him straight up anyways, but there is always a S&T possibility.

But there are many available PFs this summer that could help us out more than Swift. Chandler, Marshall, SAR, and maybe a guy like Simien or Turiaf could suprise some people.

I'm pro-Swift. My reasons are pretty simple: remember when we started Cato at the 4 next to Yao? I think he'd be able to do everything Cato did and more. He's quicker and more athletic. He's young. He can shot blocks and rebound. I do think he'd get 9-10 rebounds a game if he started for us. He'd be great in fast breaks and he'd be the recipient of many alley-oops. Not to mention, I think under Van Gundy he could be a great, great defender. He has all the intangibles to be that. Maybe he isn't the best passer or shooter, but I think everything else he could bring to the team makes up for that. Besides, we'll most likely still have Juwan Howard if we want to bring in a shooting power forward.

I'll be pleased if either of the baby bulls or Kwame Brown show up in Rockets jersey's next year too, but aside from Swift being able to do the things I've mentioned, he also seems the most realistic option since he's unrestricted. The other possibility might be Carlos Boozer. It seems like things aren't working out for him in Utah, but he makes quite a bit more than the MLE and I'm not sure what we could trade for him.

Swift would be good..better than Padgett and Spoon. How would we get him?

I want Chandler. But I think he's gonna stayi n Chicago.

NO to Chris Anderson and NO to Kwame Brown

I'm thinking we're gonna get like SAR or Donyell. I'd rather draft a power forward..big athletic one....

Mobley sounds good though..probably will stay in Sac though

We don't need Swift or OT. The pro-Swift posters always point to his athleticism but the guy hasn't even proven himself to be starter material in this league. He's good for some highlight dunks but I wouldn't want him to be anything more than a 6th man off the bench. The OT type of PF may not be good either because of the premium on speed and perimeter shooting in today's NBA game.

Can someone post a list of UFAs for next year and we can check the PFs & PGs that are available. There will also be PFs & PGs that other teams might consider as "trade bait?"

If there aren't any changes to the CBA before July 1st, then you have to throw 6 years 36 million at Stro or Chandler.

Swift's weak defense was exposed against Amare in the playoffs and his rebounding has never been great. He is a good weakside shot blocker, but not worth the $$$.

Why is everyone against an athletic PF? When was the last time the Rockets HAD an athletic PF? Athleticism does also mean that, if he's determined enough, Swift can go and get the loose balls, the rebounds and put them up for easy buckets.

We lost tonight because we lack some sort of athleticism on most fronts. So why shouldn't we get an athletic PF?

Ain't Haslem a free agent? He's got a damn fine mid-range jumper, and he can board a little...

No one is against an athletic PF, just Swift. The guy is capable of doing all the things you said, the problem is that he doesn't. He has never been a good rebounder and is constantly hurt.

For the $$$ (assuming the PFs will get similar contracts), I'd rather have Chandler or Marshall before Swift.

I think they will get more than that. I believe Stro declined an offer like that from the Grizzlies last summer, I'm not sure what the exact numbers were.

But there will be teams out there willing to spend lots of $$ on these guys.

It'd be really crazy if JVG stole a player away from SVG.

I do not believe this information is correct. Swift is an unrestricted FA and can sign wherever he wants. Even if it's a 3 year MLE deal.

Would love to get Sharif and Swift. That would improve our front line a great deal.

Then if we could some how magically get Baron Davis....whoa...

He is an UFA, and hes going to want to sign where he can get the money. The most we can offer is the MLE, I would offer him 6 years. There are other teams out there in the same cap situation as we are and are compelled to offer the same amount if they so choose, and there are teams with alot of cap room to offer him more than MLE. I just said throw that amount at him, and if he bites, he bites, and if he laughs at it and goes to Atlanta, then he does.

udonis haslem would be sweet, but he isn't leaving MIA. We need someone to do the dirty work and also hit the 15 footer.

J Howard should come through. We were rolling when he was playing well.
