Anybody know anything about this? I noticed he's not on their roster for today's Laker game and I saw something saying they placed him on the injured list for an irregular heartbeat. MemphisX? Doesn't look like they miss him much.
Here is a link: http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/8353276 He was just rounding into form after finally coming back from the ankle injury.
Ahhh...that Jerry West. Try to get as many negative things about Swift out there as possible in his contract year, so that, teams willing to outbid Memphis for his services will run away scared.
heh...i hope so. this sounds kind of like bs to me, i heard it was his ankle also and this was during the pregame.
It might be true or not. If they are not true they can always deny it as being a mistake or false report. Is it not suspicious that everything seems to be going "wrong" with Swift's body and attitude just as he is about to become a free agent?
Considering Swift is playing for big dollars right now, I would think he'd object to the team saying he had an irregular heartbeat if it wasn't true. Heck, I'd expect it if it was true, unless the doctors feel it is well under control. He can't afford to wait till the offseason to allay a GM's fears.
Regardless whether it is intentional or not, Swift's value is dropping more and more, which is good for us. But knowing the NBA, he'll probably get some outrageous deal from someone.
Hey, if West keeps on undercutting his value so he gets pissed and signs a 6 year full MLE or 3 year full MLE "sweetheart" deal with a chief rival who is in the market for a 4 so be it.
Whatever the truth behind the stories about Stromile's health, unless he has a permanent and/or debilitating condition (he doesn't), he's still gonna command more money than we can throw at him, barring a sign and trade involving draft picks and expiring contracts. Swift will probably get a deal ranging between Kenny Thomas/Rashard Lewis, say, starting at about 6 mil a year. Wish we could get him. He'd be perfect for us. And all those medical conditions might magically clear up.
Swift wouldn't be a good fit for this team. We need someone who can rebound well and is professional, mentally tough, defends and who brings it every night. Swift is none of these. Inconsistent production out of the 4 position is the last thing this team needs. I think Swift is a classic "teaser" who dazzles sometimes but will never be much more than he is now. I really don't understand the fascination with Swift at all. Someone please explain why he is "perfect" for this team. Besides block a few shots and run the floor, what else does he do? Shoot? Rebound? Defend? Pass? Is he a leader? I think I read somewhere that indicated he isn't that popular with other team members (correct me if I'm off-base). He could be another Mo Taylor. Whoever signs him to a big contract will be sorry.
