He had a nice dunk or possibly two. If Stromile was a rookie, we would be encouraged by his "potential". and could chalk up his cluelessness to inexperience. As a 6th year player he looks like a disaster. Good thing we did not pay too much for him. The Chronicle describes him as "Project Stro".

God, I hope I am wrong, but it looks like Jerry West was correct. Currently I put Stromile as about equal to Ryan Bowen as a pf, though he looks much better while running and jumping as long as he doesn't have the ball. I'm wondering if he will ever be able to fill the shoes of even Kelvin Cato.

He looked better in a couple of the preseason games.

Give the guy a chance. It's only the first game.

Oh no he looked like a helpless rookie in his FIRST game of the season. Not to mention his FIRST game w/ a new team and a new system. Ohh no but none of that matters he's still a helpless little srub . Carry on.

Man, you guys are more negative than I am about Stro. It was his first game and he will improve. How much is a big question mark. I'm sure sometime this year he will develop into a valuable rotation player that we all appreciate as long as we have realistic expectations. And it's still possible he will replace JH as a starter later on. With both guys, we are solid at PF for this year. It typical after the first game people jump on whatever our biggest weakness was in game 1 and act as if it will be that way all year round.

Stro needs to do a few things.

    1. learn our plays/rotations
    2. stay healthy
    3. stay committed

I dont think Stro will become a star on our team since we already have Yao/Tmac but Stro should become a solid double/double for me.

    10pts/10rebs/3blks I would be ecstatic

    Yes, and it's getting gayer:

I don't even want to visualize Stro POLEverizing anyone.

I think he is a little bit nervous, He should be better than Howard, I sitll believe so, one game really can not say too much.

Howard looked worse. Stro brought energy in the 1st to give us back the momentum. I'd rather have him start at PF.

Well, I hope you guys are right. I still think it is possible. It is just that I would not expect a 6th yr player to be so out of it mentally.

Cato eventually came around and hopefully Stro can, too.

the thing i don't get is how he can be in the league for this long and have no kind of shot or post moves. he is very athletic but there is a lot left to be desired in his game.

he did look very tenative last night which is fine, but its not a great start for a career underachiever.

He looked like Kemp in his first year.

Dunking on everyone, but no moves, no shot and no brains.

    It's only one game, ya'll.

If anything should be noted about Stromile, his teammates in Vancouver/Memphis (or maybe Grizzlies fans?) used to refer to him as Slow-mile. He probably isn't the brightest kid out there, and God knows, Van Grumpy makes for quite a taskmaster. I remember him barking out, "Stromile! Stromile!" during the game, and pointing, "No, there!" when Stro didn't go to his correct spot on the floor.

So Stro will take some time, but I do believe he should start. T-Mac/Yao/Anderson/Alston are plenty of firepower. Stro, when he gets up to speed, as a starter will hopefully protect Yao from foul trouble.

    (dramatic pause)

Since this was just the first game, Stromile needs to stay out of foul trouble himself, though. He really bit at every head fake. Let's hope he calms down.

One game is correct. In the interview after the game he acknowleded that he missed a few plays and forgot a few things. He held himself accountable. He will learn everything the system and will be fine. A month from now he will be a monster out there.

it's only one flippin' game. i'm not going to call the guy a bum after one game. he did rebound the ball poorly and i don't believe he blocked a shot either. we need that out of him the most.
