Neither of these players can shoot a lick. Both play similar type defense. It's a case of change team change outlook. Are you a gambler?

btw i'd rather keep stromile since im not the gambling type!

Not that I feel like defending this trade, but eddie griffin and stromile are mirror images - one year removed. At this point, stromile is more developed than eddie. However, neither player could it the backside of a barn. Both have upside whatever that means. Both are good shoot blockers and decent rebounders. Both are busts at this point in terms of draft hype. But i guess if eddie is too much to give for pau then well okay I understand. Go eddie!

I can understand that you would want to get Swift because he is more advanced than Griffin, but I would be patient.Griffin will get better with time.Right now Griffin is effective as a 3 point shooter and as a shot blocker. He needs to keep on working on his post moves, rebounding and get physically stronger so he can start defending rival 4's. I think he could prove to be the future 4 that we need. Griffin doesn't fit on the Grizzlies because they already have Gasol and Gooden. If they are going to trade for Swift it will probably be for a backcourt player.

I'd go so far to say that what we do with Griffin will be the make or break decision of the next 3 years.

Eddie is r e a l l y disappointing me right now. I'm so glad Rudy smacked him with a DNPCD--just because. He is lost and not really even thinking or trying. And it isn't just the offense. His defense and overall aggressiveness just seems wimpy, wambly, wombly whiney.

Damn HS Prep All-Americans who just expect to become stars.

    dammit Eddie...you need to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need to want it baaad.

I don't expect much right now...but I sure expect consistency, a sense of urgency, and aggression. You know...using your God-given abilities at 100% effort.

Come on, you guys. Griffin is only 20. The Rockets knew on draft day they would need to wait two or three years for him to develop. Does anyone know the definition of "patience?" You guys would have given up on Tracy McGrady!

One more thing. Just because Griffin doesn't contort his face and scream in an animalistic display like some players past and present doesn't mean he is without emotion or desire.

Mo Taylor is clearly the better power forward this year, and he should be starting. Griffin needs to be doing exactly what he is doing -- learning to play with the big boys under Mr. Mean's tutelage. End of rant.

I love how some people are all of the sudden jumping off the Griffin bandwagon and are desperate to ship him out of town for garbage and underacheivers just because hes had a couple of poor games and sat on the bench for one game.

Eddie is only 20 years old. He should be a junior in college right now. He showed flashes last year, and at times, has shown improvement this year. Hes going from being a perimeter oriented offensive player to trying to get his points in the high-low post. Give him some time to adapt.

I am against it. We already have a logjam at the 4 right now. No use in trading for another power player.

When I look at the Grizzlies I see one player I would like to have on the team and that fits our needs as a 3/2: Shane Battier.

I'm sure he could be had for our usual package. (KT, Norris, etc)

Have any of you guys actually seen Stromile Swift play? This guy is athletic, but that's about it. He doesn't bring much else to the table. Pretty much garbage at this point.

He doesn't offer Griffin's shot-blocking or 3-point shooting, but he is more explosive inside. His footwork, like Griffin's, is horrible.

Unless you know Stromile is going to develop into something, forget this trade.

If neither can shoot why would Memphis trade one non-shooting big man for another, and same goes for the Rockets? All that would do is mess up chemistry. And Jefferson didn't fill the need the Rockets needed, big men. I don't know why people are getting on the Rockets for not getting Jefferson when the Rockets needed big men and they drafted a guy who could be a superstar if he improves his shooting. I wonder when Griffin was acquired by the Rockets if the same people were saying "Crap why are we getting Griffin, Jefferson is available!" All Griffin has to do is improve his offense and that would automatically make him much better then Jefferson because he brings a ton of things to the Rockets that Jefferson couldn't bring. Griffin brings shot-blocking, rebounding, size up front and hopefully soon a low post game, something a GUARD oriented team needs. I mean there are people who suddenly want Jefferson, the guy is a nice scorer but I would take my chance on a potential franchise big man, or at least All-Star caliber big man over a scoring SF.

Nope. I think under another coach/system, Griffin could be a 20/10/2 blocks type of guy.

    True that Rocks,

At the time I yet maintained that Jefferson was a better player, but would have still chosen Griffin.

Keep a cool booty dude. Peace, love and turkey nuts...

Griffin will come into his own when we get a dominent passing Point Guard and stop playing our best Shooting Guard as a Point Guard. Under the present way we play, several players are not realy being involved IN the Game.Griffin,Mo Taylor, Morris and Nachbar to name a few. Also Moochie is not good enough for the NBA.

One thing no one has mentioned, that makes things interesting:

Anyone that has seen Griffin and Swift can tell you that Swift is noticeably bigger than Griff. Not height, but size. He's grown over 2 year, more than Griffin has.

Griffin NEEDS more strength, OR he can become more explosive. One of these. Once he adds both of these, then he becomes what we wanted him to become.

Right now that system is back at Seton Hall, not in the NBA.
