Am I the only one who thought he looked better on Tuesday?

Yes, he looked more comfortable with where he needed to be, both on offense and defense.

the problem with stro is NOT that he is playing "in his shell". he lacks discipline, that's all. give him a year under JVG. look what gundy did for cato, steve, and cat. they all improved a lot on defense. look at how tmac became a smart player and a good defender in just one season. stro will be fine just give him time!

Agreed. It's not about him being in a shell. He's just lost. Doesn't know where he's supposed to be on the court. He needs to learn the system. And then he can let his game demand more minutes.

I don't think he should be starting just yet.....it is the discipline problem, he just hasn't be disciplined on D quite yet. I think that in time, he will be the guy. For right now, he has done nothing (though his play has improved) to warrent starting quite yet.

As goofy and lost as he has looked at times, he clearly has MAD athletic skills. From a coaching perspective this guy's potential could make you MAD, kind of like Ming. I truly believe this guy could be an All Star, maybe even a HOF, if "something" could happen, but I am not sure what. He is clearly one in a million so far as size, speed, strength, coordination, and HOPS are concerned. Whoever unlocks his "mystery" reaps great rewards, if it can be unlocked. If Ming and Swift could be slightly genetically altered, there would be no stopping them. If they ever get "it," whatever "it" is, oh my.

Nope, I did too. I actually looked kind of comfortable out there. Just a bit. He's only been here 3 days. He needs more time. But He did look better on D.

Also...do you mean: starting right now without McGrady? Or starting WITH McGrady?

So far, I can't tell. He seems to be improving, and we should cut some slack to all our newcomers: it takes time to adjust to a new team.

OK, he looked better. That means he's getting better without starting. Why ruin a good thing? If/when he clearly becomes better than JH he can start. Why rush it and risk messing up his progess?

I don't know if it's that so many here dislike JH or overinfatuation with Stro, but Stro clearly should not start (yet). If he's put into the starting lineup too quickly and fails, that is the worst possible thing that could happen to him, especially if he's pouty like MemphisX says.

If JVG can turn Sto into a Ben Wallace, Rockets have a real shot at the title, possibly multiple titles, barring injuries from key players.

That would be great, but that is unnecessary and a little bit unrealistic. Rockets cannot afford three max players (Ben deserves a max contract). If Stro can develop into an CONSISTENT all-star calibre player, Rockets will be a serious contender for multiple titles.

It's a testament for both: JVG's ability as a mentor/coach and Sto reaching his acclaimed potential. Not unrealistic, unless either one of them is a hype.

He looked alot more agressive. People tend to forget that T f****** Mac, "Einstein" in terms of basketball IQ, looked dazed and confused while averaging a pedestrian 19ppg his first month with the team. In Slow-mile's case, we're talking about one of the dumbest players in the game. These are complicated sets that Van Gundy is running and he has stated in the past that they require his players to think and make decisions. Once Swift learns the system through repitition and conditioning the thinking part will become instinct and he will be able to play the game off his athletic ability. Stromile will be fine come the All-Star break, no use rushing him along now. I think he'll be fantastic come the playoffs.
