I find it very funny that the only reason that this trade fell through was because D-Wade got injured. Which involved Shane Battier and our Rockets. Looks like Houston screwed him again. Sorry Stromile.

How can anyone with any bit of intelligence criticize Stromile's desire and passion for the game ............. is there anyone more dedicated in the league both present and in the past...........

Doesn't make sense. Don't you trade to make the team better!? With Wade out, they would have more incentive to make the trade.

Grizzlies team insiders aren't the only ones who know about Stro's lack of passion for the game. His lack of any development in 7 seasons is obvious for anyone with eyes to see. The guy is nothing more than a wasted roster spot. His biggest career mistake was turning down $40MM from the Grizzlies in 2005.

And Posey + expiring contact >>>>>>> Stro + multi-year deal.

I don't get it either. That trade really would have helped Mia get to the playoffs and who knows if Wade gets back how far they can go.

Mia looks cheap, pretty sorry for a team trying to defend a title who might get their superstar back for the playoffs.

And Stro has only 2 years left after this year at a reasonable price relative to production. Atkins, who is having the best year of the players involved, has an expiring contract and Mia would have Bird rights if they want to keep him and still use their MLE.

I'd be really pissed if I were Shaq and Wade.

Maybe they know something about Wade and whether he wants to have surgery or not, and didn't want to give up what could be a lottery pick to help make the playoffs as a low seed in a year where they probably can't win the title anyway.

It wasn't Wade's injury that did the deal in...

    ==================

    Miami Herald -
Pat Riley confirmed a report that said the Heat and Grizzlies were discussing a trade for veteran point guard Chucky Atkins before last Thursday's trade deadline.

Riley said the reason the Heat did not acquire Atkins was because the Grizzlies were insisting Miami also take Stromile Swift in the deal.

''That's a good deal, but Stromile's got four years under contract that we just didn't want to digest,'' Riley said. ``That's not where we want to go with our future money.''

Riley said declining the move had nothing to do with Wade sustaining a serious injury less than 24 hours before the deadline.

Perhaps. However in this case I would have to deal lotto protected the first year. But then maybe the other team wouldn't do it.

It is really weird how so many non-deals happened. Lots of vet teams had specific needs and available players that could help them. James, Atkins, Stoudemire, Boykins, A Johnson, Ridnour, Watson, etc could have really helped a number of relative contenders (Det, Mia, Houston, LAL, SA, etc).

I am still stunned by the lack of moves actually given the circustances of available players and good teams with needs.

Looks like CD got over big time on Jerry when he forced Stro on him in the Battier for Gay deal.

How can that be? Stromile is built for that team, no? Or maybe Jerry is an idiot? He will "rue the day" he gets rid of Stromile Swift! :D

Hehe....no rueing the day on that player......the rue was EG....come on get your stalking right !!!

Stro is built for an uptempo team, but he clearly does not have the mental makeup to bring it every day.

Too bad, he is wasting his good given talent.

Why is it stalking when you get called out on your waffling from game to game and player to player? :D

So now Stro is the problem and not the team not taking advantage of Stro's talents? Earlier you were saying that Stro was geared for an up-tempo team and the Rockets are not that team. What is Memphis? Stick to an opinion... it's easy to take every side of a circle and then 1 year down the road pick one and say "I told you so". It's sad when you're going to get busted on it.

So don't cry when somebody calls you out on your bs... consider it criticism. That is something you said is "ok". :)

I hear Mrs. Butterworth calling... FLIP... ah... done. ;)

    Woah,

There is nothing wrong with changing your mind based upon the evidence, is there?

I was hopeful that Stro would come here and put it all together and grow into a good complimentary PF for Yao.

It didn't happen, he stunk, he sulked, and he deserved to go.

Changing a viewpoint is essential to growth.....was I wrong about Stro being right for the Rockets....Yes...but I am fairly certain that the bandwagon was pretty full when we acquired him....and you were probably up there helping me steer the bus....

Who has more demons from being dissed, Stevie or Stro?

What made the Battier deal for me was the unloading of the bad signing. (What didn't make the deal for me was the lack of adding the latter 1st, or at the very least 2nd rounder.)

I agree - there were plenty of people who were full of hope when we first acquired Stro - same with Eddie Griffin - I am not ashamed to admit that I was on the bandwagon both times.

It is funny how people like to point out that I was wrong about something....but I am not afraid to put it out there....I am wrong plenty of times.

Taking a chance on something but adjusting your views is essential in anything.....got to be maliable !

But I am right a lot more than I am wrong.....but no one wants to point that out....

    Cept me of course !
