How much can you expect to spend at a typical strip club? Are there any places that aren't dingy, but decent if you're on a budget? Thanks.
The words budget and strip club don't really mix. But if your looking for no skanks The Men's Club near the Galleria is a nice joint.

All the ones I have been to are on the northside.. St.James Houston Dolls (Babydolls) Fantasy XTC Cabaret Rick's Cabaret out of all those... I would say in terms of budget....most bang for your buck, I would go with Babydolls. Even the waitresses give dances there, so that is always a plus. Drinks are priced pretty good and atmosphere is more laid back. Girls don't hassle you like at other places.. Rick's is also similar, although the girls wear pasteys on their breasts, which is BS! Cover is $10, dances are $20. Girls are ok. St.James has top of the line strippers, super hot. There are drink minimums, but cheapest drink is a bottle of water for $6. Girls can't get dances or go into VIP. Cover is $15, dances are also $20. I made a stripper think she was giving me my first dance, and she let me touch. haha, no extra charge. XTC and Fantasy, are bottom of the barrel. XTC is all-nude.. but the girls there are pretty low quality even on weekends. You have to get a VIP band for like $10 then get a lapdance for like $15-$20. Sometimes they do specials like 2 dances and a tshirt for $30 lol. Fantasy, well that place just plain out sucks. It is BYOB, so is XTC by the way. Cover is like $25, VIP band is $20 and dances are $40!! Outrageous, so you basically are in the hole $80 before your private dance even starts. Strippers have scars, stretch marks, bullet and stab wounds. Its terrible. A lot of them can't even speak English, which I don't have a problem with but some might. And they try to bum beer off you. That is by far the worst strip club ever.
Went to Baby Dolls a few years ago and really didn't like the strippers but agree it was a good atmosphere compared to others. DONT GO to Scores on Westpark and Gessner, I got dragged there and it was horrible except for the smoking hot waitress but that wasn't even enough to make up for the ugly looking strippers. Try Colorado as thats been the spot I've heard the most about over the years but I also heard its a bit pricey.

i don't equate skanky with dingy. my definition of dingy would be a hole in the wall place, where you don't want to sit down because of the questionable looking substance on the chairs. and the dancers are one step above the homeless women you see on the street corners asking for money or selling the chronicle.
The Houston Press has coupons where the cover is waved if you look in the back. Though it's my understanding there is an entrance tax now. So I guess you are going to pay 5 bucks to get in. Drinks are overpriced like everywhere else.
It entirely depends on the entertainment you're looking for. Lap dances are still $20 last I checked. Expect drinks at $8-10 per.
Wow! $20 for a dance? Thank goodness I was in college when I was. You could spend an entire night in a nice strip club for $50 or so easy. $2 lap dances were great. (Somebody should plot the inflation rate of lap dances vs. the general economy from say, 1982 to now.) Unbelievable... people actually pay $20 for a lap dance?
