Street Fighter × Tekken Announced...as well as Tekken × Street Fighter

    A bit more at the link. Don't think it was mentioned in the link, but Namco-Bandai will be making their own version as well (Tekken × Street Fighter). Allows them to go with each gameplay style.

    Whoa. This sounds awesome.

    I'm well passed my Tekken playing days, (never got into Street Fighter as much) but this sounds like something I'll have to get.

    Also don't forget a PS3/Xbox360 version of SF3:Third Strike.

    So many Capcom fighting games...feels like the 90s all over again.

    Awww... what's wrong with it? I actually ordered this recently. Looks like Final Fantasy Tactics but with a couple cans of whoopass added in. :grin:

    Kazuya vs Ryu, I thought.

    I'm pretty impressed with that gameplay footage though; it looks like they got Kazuya to translate pretty well into a game that's both 2D and faster than Tekken is.

    Here's my problem though: I feel like some of the Tekken characters would be majorly neutered without their sidestep moves. If King can't rotate around you into a throw animation, it'll make getting into his biggest chain throws unreasonably hard. And arguably Bryan Fury's best aspect is his brutal sidestep punches. It will be harder to bring those guys into 2D and stay true to their strengths.

    I was just messing around, suggesting that if it ever got greenlit, it would be an RPG (or something else...puzzle game? arcadey sports game? party game?) instead of a fighting game, which is what everyone would want (at least in this thread).

    I don't know much about the quality. I remember checking out a few videos a while back. Got the impression that it was maybe an average to above average game, but with tons of Capcom and Namco IPs involved. 28/40 from Famitsu doesn't sound great, but I don't even know what to think of their reviews. Demon's Souls got a 29/40 I think.

    I can appreciate the significance behind all of this but I never got into Tekken much and therefore don't know any of their characters. Maybe the Namco version will bridge me over into the Tekken world.
