Wow this is a crazy story. The Stratford girls soccer coach was at a restaurant when he escorted a woman to her car. Don't know whether he just met the woman or she was a parent or his mistress (the latter is unlikely according to people who know the guy and are posting on Chron).

The woman's jealous husband who has a history of assault punched the coach in the parking lot. I imagine it looked like Kermit punching Rudy. The coach's head hit the pavement and he is now in critical condition.

If the coach was plowing the wife then I feel like Chris Rock's thoughts on OJ...I wouldn't do it, but I understand.

If it was a misunderstanding, the poor coach was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In any case, hope he is going to be ok.

    Damn.

I have a feeling this has the potential for some drama. Hope he'll be alright.

Unrelated, but I almost went to Stratford. Their orchestra conductor was my old high school one.

according to several people, this was a coaching/parents after game meeting at a restaurant. regular events. it was an estranged husband stalking the wife, waiting in the parking lot. she asked the coach to walk her to her car because it was late, and apparently she was getting stalker txt msgs.

the husband killed the coach in the parking lot for a mistaken reason.

    What a horrible story.

Can't seem to find any confirmation of his death. Hopefully, he is still holding in there and can make a full recovery.

Oh man... sounds like something from a movie. Just horrible. One assumes the marriage must be hitting rocky roads for a husband to stalk his wife.

Hope the death rumors are just exactly that, rumors. The guy's kid must feel like crap for what his dad did to coach.

the really sad part is this guy will likely get off very lightly. he may do a little time but that's it probably. it reads like a sucker punch and i have zero tolerance for sucker punches. sucker punching does lead to death...cause victim is not expecting it and ends up falling to the ground where their head usually takes the brunt of the fall. and, stalking was involved here...which makes it even worse. it could have been pre-meditated. i wouldn't have a problem convicting the guy on murder if victim dies. to me, the idea that you can sucker punch someone and not expect them to suffer serious injury as a result...do not go together. therefore, manslaughter is out in my book. his intent was to do harm and, by his actions, death was the result.

I'm not one for lynching someone, but this estranged husband guy sounds like a good candidate to start.

Nothing like righteous anger to get my morning going.

Hope this d**kbag gets what's coming to him.

You make it sound as if he planned to kill someone. I think that's a bit much. Manslaughter, perhaps, but not premeditated murder.

According to some of those chron posts, the guy had been texting and threatening his wife and clearly he was following her so there was some thought put into this. He didn't just show up at his house and find the coach and his wife together and fly off the handle.
