Can some1 tell me what the strategy is with our bigs, because I cannot understand why you would have your tallest starter who's an excellent shot blocker and help defender as the main defender on the perimeter so often, and in game 6 at a crucial time when there was no need. Harden, House, EGO, they can all check CP3 and in case they need that help defender when rotating on a big like Adams then we're good. Now with RoCo out that far, we have no inside help who can truly go high for a rebound let alone block a shot. Had CP3 blown past him, it would've been too easy whereas when he would've blown by Harden, House or EGO you have our bigs there to deal with.

Are you talking about Covington? He's supposed to be an all NBA defensive first team forward and our best overall defender. So him guarding the perimeter shouldn't be a controversial topic.

Anyhow its not up to us who defends the perimeter. Its up to the opposing team. Because our defensive gameplan is to switch everything, OKC can literally have CP3 pick anyone on our team to isolate and we have no choice but to oblige. He had Cov's number last night and just kept going at him. Its not Mike Dan Tony's decision to have Covington shadow CP3 or anything. Its just our defensive gameplan is designed that way. Its too late to change back to single coverage.

one of the reasons they switch everything is to rest Harden on defense or guarding the post, even though he's actually a better on the ball defender than covington. Its just the way we play. I guess one could make an argument that covington should be anchored near the paint, but its just the way we play. Most teams don't have 3 good guards to deal with so having covington on the perimeter will mean he'll be guarding forwards more. But in this series he's going to be matched up with a good guard most of the time..

i wonder if we can throw a wrinkle in and change this defense at the last moment. I think harden should be on the perimeter more, but i'm afraid that he might be gassed by the earth fourth quarter, having to expend so much energy....which would mean that russ would have to pick up the slack on offense.

i also think russ is better suited guarding the paint. Maybe we should switch to a zone with Covington and Russ guarding the paint, and everyone else guarding the perimeter?
