very realistic possibility. if they have him make 2 more AAA starts, then call him up, that would do it. 4-game series with them May 31-June 3. would make sense that they start him here too. take some pressure off with a small crowd. would be pretty sweet.
Not to mention a lousy offense. Yea, that would be awesome. Drayton would love it, too. The kid's been beasting at AAA. What is it, 18+ innings of shutout ball with few hits allowed and a bunch of Ks?
something like that. the nats picked the best 2 year stretch in the history of time to finish with the worst record in the league.
That's right, you're from my old stomping grounds. How about the Caps, Nats and Wizards all getting the opportunity to build around #1 picks at roughly the same time? Pretty cool.
I guess it would make sense for him to debut at home. I'm just interested to see this guy pitch in the big leagues, regardless of where or if I get to see him live or on TV.
Why would the Nationals skip out on all that cash for Strasburg's first start? No doubt that he makes his first start at home.
The coverage for his first start will be huge. I think they'll want all that focused on their own ballpark, plus you'll get the first 2 starts at home.
well, only a relocated DC person.. originally from Houston. So my only team out here is the Caps. But I'm happy for Leonsis getting the #1 pick for the Wiz b/c of his Caps affiliation.. and I used to work about 50 feet from the new Nationals stadium. So it was nice to catch random baseball games, even if they're not my team (cause they also aren't the Cardinals/Braves/Cubs)
so, in summary: The biggest potential event at MMP this year will be the appearance of a pitcher on some other team. A team that, when the universe is properly aligned, generally wins 30 fewer games than the Astros. man, this sucks.
funny how it's Bell and Biggio K's that are easiest to remember in memory-video detail from that game..
