Today, I was at the Third Planet comic shop when a tall guy kind of slid past me at the racks. I looked up and thought, that is one tall comic book nerd. Then I noticed the huge tree trunk calfs and took a 2nd look at his face and I realized it was Yao Ming. He was there with a chinese guy in a shirt and tie who did some translating. I wanted to say hi, but I thought I should get something for him to sign first so I wouldn't bug him twice. I grabbed some free comic preview thing and asked the owner for a pen, but he shut me down and told me the store's policy was to not bother celebs and treat them like regular customers. I wasn't aware that Third Planet was such a hot bed of celebrity shopping... Anyways, he went up to the counter with what he was buying and I didn't want to bother him up there, so I didn't even get to say hi. He bought a giant Transformer that had to be 20 or so years old and some other old toys. I saw the guy showing him a light saber that lit up and had sound effects, but it did not look like the toy kind with the retractible "blade," it seemed more like a collectible. It sounded like he spent about $1240 dollars.
Strangest place I've seen Yao? Hmm. I once saw him waiting at a bus stop and was going to offer him a ride, but I got confused when he mentioned something about a "ride ride".
Transformer was huge in China during the mid 80s when Yao grew up as a Kid. I cant believe Yao still wont let it go of it. If I remember correctly, back then every kid wanted a transformer, which basically cost a little more than a month of salary.
Next time if someone here in Houston or Shanghai bumps into Yao, could you pass along these words for me "YallMean of clutch city wants to you that all great players improve their games in the summer" We need to start a thread to concort a message that we should pass along to Yao in case one of our members bumps into him.
Oh yeah, and your are extremely mature with your b****ing about Yao and how he spends his cash. What's the matter, can't the man have a hobby?
Ya, he was much "cooler" when he was playing counter strike with Boki 24/7. Maybe if Boki spent that time working on his jump shots instead, he'd still be here.
Grow up Yao!!! Just joking ... Yao is heading back to China soon. May be he is just shopping for his friends or the kids of his friends back there?
What does this have to do with game action or Roster Moves? I saw him come out of the crapper on an airplane. Wrong place for the post.
