A good friend of mine who's a Fakers fan called me up from LA last nite and goes "Hey I didn't know Juaquin Hawkins was on the Rockets now!!"

He proceeded to tell me how he played against Juaquin several times back in High School. Juaquin had been the star starting point guard for Long Beach High? and my friend had been the starting point guard for Diamond Bar High (Keith Van Horn was on the team as well). He said that back then Juaquin would draw big crowds in LA because he was a 6'6" point guard which was rare at the time and well appreciated due to the Magic Johnson comparisons. He said back then Juaquin couldn't really shoot that well from the outside but was a "tremendous dunker and playmaker who would slither inside the defense."

Now to the story....there was less than a minute left in the game and my friend's team was up 6 points over Juaquin's on a typical nite when Van Horn had already scored 30 something. My friend, who's a very good ballhandler, brought the ball up court and got picked by Juaquin who got a breakaway dunk - 4pt game. Next possession Van Horn got the ball on the left block and turned to face, then upfaked and drove right baseline. Juaquin "came from nowhere", swiped the ball loose, and falling out of bounds hit it off of Van Horn's foot out of bounds. One of the Long Beach players got fouled in the next play and made both free throws - 2pt game. My friend now had the ball with only 15 seconds remaining and could basically dribble the clock out for the win. Juaquin doubled on him and forced the quick pass to a teammate with butterfingers who let it go out of bounds. On the inbound Juaquin got the ball, crossed over at the key and faked a drive into the lane, then dribbled back out, stopped on a dime behind the arc, and laced up a 3 - End of game.

"I can't believe it took him so long to get into the NBA because back then there was like no doubt. You guys got yourselves another f*ing Mario Elie......but that's ok because once Shaq retires we'll probably find a way to get Tracy McGrady here with Kobe. Dat's how we do it in LA."

    (Stupid Fakers Fans!!)

So true. That's just one reason I hate the Lakers. Now I live in LA and have to hear those fans BS all the time.

Watch out for them to try to grab Yao Ming after Shaq retires.
