Can we lay off the trade threads for a few days here?!

The Rox just got into the playoffs after a 5 year drought. Lets see how they do first before we talk about dismantling this team.

I'm &(*)(ing frustrated about the Rox immature and inconsistent play like the rest of y'all but at least they accomplished the main task we wanted for them this year, get into the playoffs.

Y'all will have all summer to debate back and forth about who should stay, who should go and who we should get.

If the entire boad is opposed to trades, then no one would click on them, and they would die in a matter of hours.

However, people want to talk about trades, and thats their right.

The only thing more annoying than a trade thread is yet ANOTHER "stop the trades" thread.

It's ok to say it once and hope it gets understood.

Trade threads will never stop - this is a mediocre basketball team.

Why can't you just deal with that?

Why can't we just have a "Trades talk forum"? I think the posting the last couple of seasons provided a good foundation for this. Perhaps the GARM forum wouldn't have such a negative vibe then...

Oh well just an idea... but then off course the GARM forum would only be called Game Action forum wich actually sounds better IMO.

so make the GARM into GA...

now would that be pronouced G-ah or G-ay?

It's impossible to limit trade talk out of the GARM... you are envisioning a utopian societ where people come and just talk about how good the Rockets are. But as Sane said... this team's not good enough for us to do that.

Well yipengzhao it is possible to discuss the team and being critical without it having to involve specific trades all the time. I thought you would know that, since you pretend to know my inner thoughts.

Well you don't and stop talking down to people.. I am not interested in only praising the team despite it's flaws but I am also not interested in the flooding of trade talks that people like yourself contribute to.

If you go to any other team fan site you would realize that keeping the trade talk in a seperate forum is normal practice so why do you call it utopic?? because you want us to keep reading your trade proposals or because you are narrow minded.. Your pick

sorry about that.. I was being grumpy and have nothing personally against your posts actually but it´s late over here and it's time to go to sleep. I would not want to be one who brings even more negative vibes to this place..

oh well you can always go to that bad band pics thread in the hangout if you want something to smile about.. That is SO funny:)

Time to trade SF? His stock is rising, and if he does well in the playoffs we better prepare to trade him.....

.....Just Joking. I am so sick of the trade threads. I wish the starters of those threads would wait till the offseason to discuss trades. I don't check the GARM that often in the offseason.

All the dang trade threads are part of the reason I haven't visited the GARM as much as I used to.

I don't believe that JVG's primary goal for this season was just to make the playoffs. He's said that from day 1. Here's a couple of JVG quotes from a recent Chronicle article:

But Van Gundy said it is not about merely making the playoffs. The Rockets have shown they can play well, and they played well through much of Sunday's loss. As with their latest defeat, when they made only one much-too-late shot in the final two minutes, Van Gundy is after more than an appearance.

"I want to get in (the playoffs), but we have set our standards so low here," Van Gundy said. "The culture is such that we just want to breathe a sigh of relief that we made the playoffs, like that is some magnificent accomplishment in the NBA, just making it. My point to the team from day one is that that's the lowest form of accomplishment in the NBA, just making it. I want to have a disciplined, sound, hard-playing team that competes for a championship."

"My feelings haven't changed," Van Gundy said. "The (media) go on a roller coaster between praise and condemnation depending on the result. I basically am looking for, and have been, a group of guys that can make strides toward playing championship-caliber basketball.

"Making the playoffs, obviously, is something we'd like to do. But I think it's much larger than that. It's trying to find a group that makes us have lasting improvement, and certainly we have shown this year not nearly enough lasting improvement. We haven't played particularly well or tough-minded."

hey i can understand your frustration. it's frustrating to be sure. i don't belong to any other BBS's... but I'm sure it's a wild in there too... I guess unless it was the bulls bbs circa 1999... you know the 70 win season.

hopefully it can be like that soon...

just curious though... you say it's late... do you live in Europe or something because I'm the latest it can be in American and it's only 10.

I'm not against trade threads and participate in them myself. I'm just asking for a little break from them for a couple of reasons.

    1. The Rox are in the playoffs after 5 years and there's a lot to focus on there.

    2. The team we have now is the team we are going into the aforementioned playoffs with. There are going to be no roster trades until the season is totally over. No trades are going to happen for the next month and a half.

    3. After the season is over you'll have up until the trade deadline of next season to talk trades.

I'm just asking for a little break from scheming to dismantle the team until the Rox are done with the playoffs. Now is that so hard.

It's extraordinarily hard. In fact, completely unreasonable.

I've tried to stay away from the junk, believe me. It just keeps pulling me back in. There's no way I can turn my mind off when it keeps telling me things aren't right. I have to try and understand how they could be better.

Maybe you're not wired that way.

The Rockets are in the playoffs regardless of whether potential trades get discussed. If you have trouble focusing on the playoffs, then skip reading the trade threads.

    2. The team we have now is the team we are going into the aforementioned playoffs with. There are going to be no roster trades until the season is totally over. No trades are going to happen for the next month and a half.

True. But, since when are we only allowed to discuss things that are going to happen in the next couple of weeks. We've had a ton of threads all season about what the Rockets need to do to become a contender. I doubt that too many of those people believed that we were about to become a contender in the next few weeks.

    3. After the season is over you'll have up until the trade deadline of next season to talk trades.

Again, I fail to see how trade talk has any effect whatsoever on the playoffs. The two are totally unrelated. Alot of people share JVG's opinion that the playoffs aren't the end all for this team. Some people are looking to build toward something bigger than just making the playoffs.

So, to anwer your question :
"Can we lay off the trade threads for a few days here?! ", the answer is "Probably not".

Sishir Chang, I'm glad you start this thread. One of the best titles I wanna see on this BBS. Kudos to you.

I understand NBA is essentially a business. As the saying goes, business is business. alright, I deal with it. But isn't it a job of CD and Rockets Management that prepare & manipulate those trade/swop/draft pick, etc...? Let's try not to be a real GM, please.

But quite a few posters here seems infatuated to start 'Trade .... Post'. From 'Trade Cat Thread' last season to 'Trade Francis Topic' this year... countless trade threads sprang out WITH NO END! I can't help thinking it wouldn't take too long to emerge a flood of "trading Yao to ... when he still has some value" Thread... In fact it has already EXISTED.

It looks disingenuous and disloyal to supposedly root your team who are trying their best to win while looking for the best opportunity to ship players off for another, who in any case might not be better overall.

That blurs the line between die-hard and bandwagon, eh?

    *BUMP*

A little optimism and positive talk would be a great improvement to this board. All these ridiculous trade talks while we're going to the playoffs is just a waste of time and degrades the Rockets accomplishments.

Getting into the playoffs in the West is no easy task.
