Are we really doing this? Jabari over Jalen Williams? Jalen over Mobley? Parsons, Landry, Hartenstein, Melton, Harrell in 2nd round? Aaron Brooks and Capela late first round? Beverley and Scola for free? Dragic for Aaron Brooks? Lowry for Rafer? You've been a member since 2008. I refuse to believe that during your fandom through Morey's tenure, you found these pickups to be the work of a crappy GM.
Morey has so many more busts than Stone. Stone actually got gold in the teens like Sengun, Cam and tari. Morey oth made a lot of wrong draft choices like Marcus Morris over Kawhi, Donte Greene over Nicolas Batum, Terrence Jones, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb etc Stone picked in the top 4 cuz he put himself in that position, Silas revealed to John Wall Stone was interfering with coaching lineups and telling Silas to keep playing Daishen Nix so they keep losing. Morey oth never had patience for drafting. He kept trading away the Rockets picks and near the end they hadnt drafted a first round pick in the last 5 yrs. More importantly Morey found lots of gems but let them go due to lack of patience. Guys like Jeremy Lin, Christian Wood, Andre Roberson, Dillon Brooks, Robert Covington etc
Chandler Parsons, Aaron Brooks, Scola, Clint Capela were pretty good picks IMO just to name a few. Morey did pretty well with what he had.
He had some good picks but he also had some bad picks. He is an average drafter imo. More importantly he gave up on drafting later on kept trading future picks for busts or washed vets.
He been there for 5 yrs, thats 10 picks. Hitting on 2/10 isnt a good percentage. Sixers are paying three max contracts but gonna be in the lotto and then will give their pick to OKC. Think about how bad that is.
Udoka didnt want Garuba though. Udoka had the chance to get him and keep him, honestly Rockets had the chance to get all of them back as they were cut by Atlanta.
That's a ridiculously good percentage considering none of his picks were in the lotto and seven of them were in the second round.
Yeah that was his kryptonite. Trying to trade for stars instead of allowing the team to build cohesion. We learned that with Dwight, Lawson, Lou Will, Russ. The only player that worked out was CP3.
I know when you hate someone, you absolutely HATE them so nothing anyone can say will change your mind. Embiid got injured, that's all there is too it. Considering the draft picks he's had in philly, i would give him an A+ for his drafting so far. Maxey is an A++++++++++++++ and Mccain looks like at worst an A.
Garuba was the wrong type of hungry for Udoka. ...in related news - I see Garuba is basically Spain's 11th best player right now.
Morey was charged with a different task. A rebuild affords flexibility/ margin for error. Stone has been magnificent so far. But, Daryl was told to reload on the run..no rebuild..did it..and beat one of the great dynasties...which we were doing, only to have the League step in.
Yup, after Lebron went to Miami with the Big 3 it changed the dynamics of the league. Everyone was scrambling to build their own. Then KD went to the Warriors and all hell broke loose. This current era, is what I like to see. Home grown built teams (Denver, Boston, Warriors w/o KD, Memphis, Bucks, Magic)
Stone should never trade away any first round picks. His hit rate is too good and it's such an advantage having so many meaningful contributors on rookie deals
