My wife ordered a package online, and the tracking number says that it was delivered December 4th, but we never received it. Called the USPS for them to just say the mailman doesn't remember. It pisses me off that they don't take responsibility for this. My wife is a stay at home mom. She was at home when the package was supposedly delivered. I've had them deliver a package to the wrong house before, and just been lucky the person they delivered it to was a family friend and knew who called me and let me know. Mail sucks. Luckily this time its only at a cost of $11(once had a package of over $100 lost after being delivered to my apartment complex's office).
USPS takes no responsibility for misdelivered packages. I had a similar situation occur, but fortunately the package was found in the community mailbox for large packages.
I ordered something from Amazon last week. The item was shipped UPS and tracking info said delivery date will be December 7th. I got home at 5:30 from work and checked the status which was still OUT TO DELIVERY. I've been home the whole time, checked teh status at 8 and it said, DELIVERED, FRONT DOOR AT 6:45 PM. WTF? I didn't hear any knock and my dog never barked. He always goes crazy with anyone near the house. It was raining that day, so i checked my porch because where else would they put it. Nothing. CAlled UPS and the rep said, "Check your bushes. Oh if you have a BBQ grill, check in there". ugh, what? BBQ grill? Well, it wasn't there. They told me to call Amazon. Called Amazon, and bam! They're sending another shipment out. Love Amazon.
Thats what somebody else said. Unfortunately this sticker company that my wife ordered from was not nearly as awesome. I'm a huge fan of Amazon. I usually only order from Amazon or Wal-Mart unless some sort of insurance is available.
I owned a UPS Store up until this summer. If you have a choice always use UPS or FedEx. Every package has a minimum $100 insurance for free. If a package shows delivered and you don't have it they'll pay you up to $100 (depending on the item value) for the mistake even if you didn't pay extra for insurance.
Yes, it is usually up to the person/company that sent the package to start the insurance claim process. Amazon knows they will get the claim so they usually go ahead and send a new shipment out before the lost package claim is finalized.
I ship nearly everything to the office now. Regardless of whether I'm in the office or not, the receptionist is there to receive it.
I live in a small complex and everything delivered goes straight to our office for pickup. Leaving packages outside is just stupid.
SOLUTION! Call your credit card company dispute the charge, and ask for them to file a charge back against the merchant for an item purchased that was never delivered. The merchant will then be asked by the credit card company to pay you back for said item unless they can provide proof of delivery. If they can not provide proof of delivery within a certain amount of time your account will be refunded. Moral of the story: If your a merchant dont use a crappy shipping service to save some change.
I had FedEx twice ring the bell and leave this package and run off. ... for someone I've never heard of. Just a wrong address, or former address sort of thing. So each time, I was fast enough to run with the package and give it to the driver and say "no, we're not taking this big box. wrong address. return to sender. oktx." Come home from work yesterday, and there's the stupid box again. So we just opened it and are keeping the nice copper kitchen containers. WTF. So, if you ever wonder where your package is, some ass-hat and his wife have opened it and decided to keep it.
