Our 4th quarter defense cost us a lot of games last year. We might have some decent bigs in Asik and Motiejunas. This is my biggest concern going into the season.
Well for most teams, it is. And welcome to Clutch fans  However, if you look at the advanced defensive metrics of Asik, Patterson, Parsons and the room for improvement in Jeremy Lin and DMo, we might actually be better off than last year, where we had Luis Scola and an undersized center. It might actually be better than last year.
Neither am I but the good thing is now we have someone who will completely alter the way teams play when they come in the paint. I don't want to see ONE SECOND of lin and martin playing defense together. Makes me wanna throw up just thinking about that ish....
Your only concern should be our lack of a franchise player to build around. Being worried about holes in a clear non contender is somewhat pointless.
Lin and Lamb might be the same thing unfortunately But with a good defensive front court that we have with Parsons, Patterson, and Asik (as currently constructed), it will make up some of the difference. Hopefully Patterson returns to his athletic self and becomes a relatively competent shot-blocker that he showed promise in his rookie season along with Asik. If we face a Kobe Bryant or another elite shooting guard, I bet you Parsons will guard him. Don't worry, if we had to start the season right now, it would not be disastrous. But I can almost assure you that the roster will change.
Still have till October 31st to get the D fixed. I don't know what other moves will be done along the way to change up the roster again but it will nice to see the final roster get completed.
Why? Is Lamb that bad? For Lin's part, he was 19th in the NBA in steals/48 and according to Synergy was in the top 3rd in the league in opponent points allowed. Presumably he'll be better this year, too.
Reach 100 posts without getting rookified? (What does getting rookified do anyway?) On topic: you shouldn't care so much about defense on a team full of rookies. Rather care about the overall development of the youngsters' games.
Our starting line-up is defense heavy. I am just a little worried about the defense on the bench, though.
No it isn't. Asik - strong defense Patterson - mediocre defense Parsons - good defense Martin - poor defender Lin - below average defender We're putting almost all our eggs in the Asik basket, hoping he can protect the rim as opponents turn our backcourt into turnstiles.
Patterson is not a mediocre defender and Parsons plays great defence. Yes Martin kinda stinks at defence; but Lin can improve and it is always great to have a elite defensive center for pick and roll situations.
It is compared to last seasons starters. Camby- good defense Scola- air Parsons- great defense Martin- air Gogi- good defense
I thought the purpose of this season (if Howard trade no happening) is to tank. No defense is probably good for individual stats in offense and boost our "assets" values.
I was wondering if JaJuan could play the 3. He may be a great defender off the bench with his length.
