A year ago, we had too many scrubs.

Today this team is much better that last year, or even the Bobby Sura team. We've got the necessary role players, a better offense, and still strong defensively. Scola may very well emerge as a 3rd scoring option.

But we're just missing one piece now to the puzzle. And only one problem with this team. It's unfortunate - this team would have contended in other years, but with the upgrades teams have made (Dallas and L.A. especially), I don't think we have enough.

The problem as I see it - we only have one triple-threat player in T-mac and need another.

We need another guy who can penetrate, pass, and score. Some one to be T-mac side kick either at the SF or PG position. A cross between Rafer and Head. It's so clear that when defense focuses on T-mac it's a problem because the rest of the team can't help accept to receive a pass or set a pick. They can't create their own shot. No one on this team can except t-mac.

    And the defense knows it.

Instead, we need a guy who can be a triple threat and keep defenses honest, so when they double tmac he can pass not just to an open guy, but to another triple threat player. A player who can again penetrate and pass, just pass, or shoot. That will send defenses scrambling and open the offensive game for everyone - especially in the 4th quarter.

Imagine how many more easy buckets could be had.

The solution isn't mike miller, it's mike bibby. No doubt about it.

this has been talked about before.

we need another guy who can create his own shot.

the hope was that bonzi would be that guy, and so some extent he is. scola is also turning out to be a guy who can create for himself. rafer has been going a wonderful job over the past 20 games or so.

i'm not sold on bibby anymore. he's having his second consecutive bad year. i don't think he's bouncing back to his old form. miller is the best available perimeter scorer, but we don't have the ending contracts to get him if we want to hold on to bonzi.

i think we need a guy who can create though - not just for himself, but for his teammates. do you really think bibby is washed up?

Actually, what we REALLY need is another year. One more year for Scola to totally adjust to the NBA. One more year for Landry and Brooks to work on their game enough to be solid rotation players.

I thought at the beginning of the season that this could be our year because I was counting on the likes of Francis, Bonzi, and James. But it turns out that the youngsters are the ones who are truly shining. The problem is, they're still rookies and still q

That 1 ingredient is Sam Cassell, Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, Mike Miller or an 04-05 Bob Sura.

It doesn't have to be Bibby. But I do agree with you, we are not winning a championship with Rafer.

We need a good point guard to go anywhere. Just look at the nights rafer plays well the team usually does well too and we win. In this league you need a good point guard not an average one.

I think Adelman's system is best suited towards covering up this kind of absence, Dallas' system being the exact opposite. We're fine. Everyone who starts now can make you pay if you leave them open, which is exactly what we were trying to do last year but couldn't because we didn't have the personnel. Battier's shooting great now, Rafer's done extremely well the past couple weeks, and everyone has seen what Scola can do. We don't need playmakers, we need shot-makers, and as long as we keep shooting well we can beat anyone.

if alston can play well in 3 games of a 7 game playoff series, we will beat every team. our only weakness is point guard. if alston plays well, we really don't have a weakness.

To an extent, we have our 3rd scorer. Some nights its Bonzi, some nights its Scola, some nights its Landry, some nights they all score 10+ points...

I feel our offense depth this year is better than last year, and thats all we're really looking for.

    yeah i'd bet he is.

another perimeter scorer and upgrade at point are top 2 priorities. getting a guy who fills both needs would be great but there is nothing like that available for what the rockets can offer.

the problem is that point guards who can score are out of our price range. we can probably make a move for andre miller (best available PG) or mike miller (best available scorer)... but the only guy i can think of that does both, and is available is sam cassell.

sam cassell would make us instant contenders - but he's going to the celtics from what they say.

Need a defensive pg against Parker, Kidd, Nash, B.Davis, Deron Williams etc in the west, who has a steady shot(unlike Rafer) and good ball handling.

all we need is a freakin PG with at least a moderately consistent outside shot... and Alston ain't it. As long as Rick Addleminded is content to throw 35+ minutes at Alston, we can enjoy our victories, but we all know we're just waiting for the trainwreck. THERE! I said it!

    t-mac has regressed each year.
he's like an ailing old-man on the court these days that doesn't play defense.

This is sooooooo obvious, but sooooooo many can't see this. I don't know why. I guess this may take another first round exit to sink in.
