This was probably the best original solo/stand-up bit that J.S. has done himself in years: <table style='font:11px arial; color:#333; background-color:#f5f5f5' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='360' height='353'><tbody><tr style='background-color:#e5e5e5' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;'><a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.thedailyshow.com'>The Daily Show With Jon Stewart</a></td><td style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; text-align:right; font-weight:bold;'>Mon - Thurs 11p / 10c</td></tr><tr style='height:14px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;' colspan='2'<a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-5-2009/the-11-3-project'>The 11/3 Project<a></td></tr><tr style='height:14px; background-color:#353535' valign='middle'><td colspan='2' style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; width:360px; overflow:hidden; text-align:right'><a target='_blank' style='color:#96deff; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.thedailyshow.com/'>www.thedailyshow.com</a></td></tr><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><embed style='display:block' src='http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:cms:item:comedycentral.com:254892' width='360' height='301' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='window' allowFullscreen='true' flashvars='autoPlay=false' allowscriptaccess='always' allownetworking='all' bgcolor='#000000'></embed></td></tr><tr style='height:18px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><table style='margin:0px; text-align:center' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='100%' height='100%'><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes'>Daily Show<br/> Full Episodes</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.indecisionforever.com'>Political Humor</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.thedailyshow.com/videos/tag/health'>Health Care Crisis</a></td></tr></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
Just the freeze frame with the chalkboard has me cracking up. As a professor, I have always hated that the strikingly undereducated and illogical Beck dares to use a chalkboard as if he could teach anything but lunacy.
Speaking of Glenn Beck, I was in Barnes & Noble yesterday and saw an audio-book of his titled: "Arguing with Idiots". I laughed at the irony. Is this guy serious? Does he really believe the filth he spews? And they say Obama has a "silver tongue"...
Mentally challenged, Donny. Mentally challenged. Use the proper and polite nomenclature, please. (certainly applies to Beck!)

There's just no way Beck himself and some his fans aren't laughing at this, it's just too damn funny. It's amazing how much this unique brand of show so closely suits Stewart's talents, as compared to everything else the guy's done for the last twenty years. It also makes me worry about how on Earth he'll duplicate this once he eventually, almost inevitably, takes over for Letterman.
He took over for Larry Sanders; he was great managing that transition. But yeah, Stewart has always been best as a political comedian.
Wow -- that is really damned funny now that I watch the whole thing. There are just so many layers to it. The theme of going back to the medical beliefs of our founding fathers is really the strongest, most indicting criticism of Beck's fringe, IMHO. Yeah, let's go back to practicing medicine based on the body's "humors" and not letting anyone remove an appendix. LOL. Then all the damned details. I love the acorn bit. And right under the acorn is a Feynmann diagram of quark-lepton interaction (high-energy physics). Why? Who cares. Again, it's absurdly funny and emphasizes the extent to which Beck just adds random unrelated facts to make himself look like a non-fraud.
I always wonder why conservatives flock to guys like this and Rush. Why do fat, loud, lying, white guys have such appeal to them?
I watched it live on thursday and made a note to go back and watch it again on friday which I did when I posted this just to pick up what I may have missed. My favorite blackboard thingy is the nod to Dr. Strangelove.
Yeah, I've been thinking more and more about general ripper in that film. It's really not that far from some of Beck's one-foot-in-the-bunker wingers we hear from these days. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0he-LZNzVg0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0he-LZNzVg0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Larry Sanders was Gary Shandling's talk show host character. Stewart took over the Daily Show from Craig Kilborn.
