I duno if anyone has brought this up but here we go. These are a few scenarios that I would like to throw out.

    1. Steve has a decent to above average court vision, but he doesn't trust his teamates.
    a. Eddie, Mot, and Yao started off slowly
    b. Glen is a streaky shooter
    c. Cato just plain sucks if not its not a dunk
    d. All the great ones get this syndrome.

    2. Basically scenario one, but this time Steve is personal about passing the ball to someone else. He's still got vision, but he's got too much ego and pride to pass the ball.
    a. The addition of Yao. Many times, Yao would be frozen out of the game.

    3. Steve's got no vision whatsoever, and when he does have a vision, its posterizing anybody and everybody.
    a. This is self explanatory

    4. Steve hasn't had "great" Point guard coaching.
    a. Noone has ever rode steve's @ss (although I would like to see Larry Brown ride it) and Rudy's never rode anyone hard.
    b. He only had one year of college level coaching and before that it was playground ballin.

What case do you think it is and what can we do to solve it.

He needs a coach that can deter him from his me first basketball and turn him into a pass first pointguard or a score in the flow of the offense shooting guard.

Hey Gregonomics - it gets old when you over do it...just tone down on the bashing for a while and maybe in a couple of years it will be funny again.

    Nice post Fatman.

I sure hope it's #4. PG is obviously a hard position to learn, but Steve looks like he needs someone to apply some discipline.

i think steve just needs a lil discipline and more coaching support.. rudy used iso in him, so, that made his system to have a shoot first pass second mentality.. with larry brown, that will all change!!!

Hey you know my work! I'm flattered, but seriously I'm not here to bash. I just like to get the inside news on the Rockets. but when i keep reading how some "fans" bash the players on their favorite team, i get in a bashing mood myself.

    Other.

Steve's biggest problem is having a "backcourt mate" who is almost the exact same type of player. If the team had more of a diversity of skills, Steve's weaknesses would not look very serious compared to his strengths. However, when you mutliply Steve's weaknesses by two it gets ugly.

I have always been a subscriber to this theory. To a lesser extent, you can add Moochie to the mix. Seeing Cat out there is like watching 2 Steves sometimes. Mobley's indiscretions only magnify Steve's.

Other- he doesn't make teammates better. Yet he has dominated the ball so much in Rudy T's offense, which makes the problem much worse.

It would be interesting to see how he does playing off the ball more under a new system.

Stevie's biggest problem is MOBLEY with him.

    And not the proper coaching.

    And his attitude problem.

And not understanding the game and how to play it.

    And Moochie Norris.

And having nobody on the team who can shoot.

    HE IS A STAR.

    Francis needs a good coach.

I believe he has the ability and the court vision. Good passing involves every players. As long as we play ISO ball a lot, SF will look like an inadequate passser.
