In the 8 games since the all star break steves numbers:

    39-113 for 31% fg
    5.9 ast pg
    3 turnovers per game.

I can recall the last time an nba player went through such a slump and not get benched, traded, waived etc..

31% is just down right horrible. Its just a shame to know that if he was shooting his normal 40%+ as previous years we would at least be 5 or 6 games better.

and the funny thing is i remember bill walton saying yesterday that steve said his field goal % was real low b/c of last second shots he takes. He does take last second shots but not tha many to make his field goal % that low.

His last second shots were just randomly thrown bricks.
    That is ugly too.
Steve is doing his best to make this team 5 ****** in a roll.

Actually Bill Walton was criticizing Francis for trying to use that as an excuse.

Then tell his teammates to stop passing the ball to him when there are 3 secs left on the shot clock. :D

At one point last night Walton's comment re: Francis' % was something akin to : " When are we going to stop hearing excuses for his terrible play?"

Bill Walton is right on the money....

    Remember JVG's motto....NO EXCUSES !!!

Steve is FULL of excuses, he still needs to grow up, and take responsibilty.

Exactly .. instead of taking those shots with 3 second on the clock
he should simply dribble the clock out

LOL :D Well anyways, I really feel bad for Steve. Last year and the beginning of the season this year, I've been badmouthing him saying what a low basketball IQ he has. However, now I just don't know anymore. He looks so lost to me out there on the court (and certainly the numbers indicate this as well), it's hard to say anything negative about him anymore. I want the Rox to trade him not just for the best interest for the team but for him as well. I think he needs to regain his identity as a player. I would love to see the guy succeed but more and more, it looks like it won't be here in Houston.

Lose the ;) because if I were the Rockets, and that was a possibility, I'd jump on it.

in my opinion, steve should NEVER have the ball in his hands in the final seconds of the shot clock ( or, heaven forbid, the final seconds of the game clock.) when this happens (which is a LOT) there is a 100% chance that he's going to take the shot. if we know this, every player/coach in the league knows this. his low basketball IQ and his poor passing ability dictate this scenario. it's absolutely killing our team, in both the win column and in the spirit of the other players. JVG MUST realize this. why, then, is this allowed to persist? that's what one must ask if one really cares about the team's current situation and where the team is headed in the near and distant future: Les and CD. period.

Heck...he IS dribbling that is WHY the clock is running out.
