I was very much in the wait-and-see category when this trade happened. With a smol side of disbelief. His injury was serious and he had been off a long time. All credit to him, his impact and ability to use his size and strength against opponents has been a revelation. I wonder what his thoughts are on the offseason? If he views a return in his best interest or if he’s getting offers to play elsewhere? Does he still view himself as starter? Would love to have him back even if it’s as a part timer.
I loved the trade last season. If anything he would bring the veteran presence and professionalism was going to bring contributions to our youngsters ala Drooks and Van Vleet. The fact that he's producing at such a great level while coming off the bench is just icing on the cake. He's accepted his role on this team and found a home. He's only played for two teams in his entire career so hopefully that loyalty and familiarity stands firm with Houston and the Rockets.
I was actually a bit iffy on Adams at the start of the year given how strongly Jock ended last year, but Adams being the rebounding goat was not on my bingo list. Adams has always been a good rebounder, but only under Ime was he unleashed. IMO this shows you really need the right coach to get the most out of certain players. In Jalen's case for example he learned how to be a good defender, but if we had Kenny Atkinson Jalen would prob be having an even more efficient offensive season by now but would also be a worse defender. If we are sticking with Ime we should keep an eye on getting elite defensive players or with elite defensive potential. For example, Giannis on this team would prob be the perennial MVP. In the draft Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming or Carter Bryant would prob thrive under Ime.
Hope he stays on the Rockets and continues the backup big legendary run: Mutombo/Larry Smith/Nene/Chuck Hayes
