Listening to the half time on ESPN of the Rockets Game
Stephen A was talking about the Knicks
basically says everyplayer in the knicks Locker room cannot STAND Stephon

Q Richardson basically refused to leave the facilities until he got
his hands on Marbury . . his sister had to call him and beg him to leave

Man . . . If this is true . . Stephon REINVENTS the word CANCER

wasn't there some recent article around the time of the francis trade saying how all of stephon's teammate's liked him and he was great in the lockerroom (i think it tried to contrast that to francis by saying francis has always caused problems, though i don't remember players having problems with him in houston)?

Starbury is still same ol' Starbury: NO ONE wants to be around him or play with him.

A good guy, just not a good teammate by any means. Not a player you want to have on your team.

If Starbury were an UFA this summer what kind of contract could he expect, and what team(s) would be offering?

Isiah would sign him again to the usual ridiculous contract.

im so tired of that steven smith dude. i wish someone would do a poll for the average sports fan and see how many people like him. then do a little spot on tv.

"im here to say only 23% of the sportsfans polled like steven a smith"

steven a. smith is lying. period. he probably got his info from peter vescey. i know that his teammates in new jersey and especially in phoenix hated to see him go. he's a good guy and an excellent player. no isn't a champion but there are a lot of excellent players without rings. steven a. smith must hate the fact that no one is watching his joke for a show, so he must resort to making up insider information. just fall off the face of the earth already steven.

Well, first of all, he isn't talking about his teammates in New Jersey or Phoenix, he's talking about his teammates in New York.

Secondly, how do you know? It's hard for fans to ever know, because these guys are professionals and very rarely publicly admit they had a personal problem with one of their teammates or former teammates. Think about it! How many times can you think of that a player has publicly bad mouthed one of his teammates or former teammates? I can only think of a handful of incidents like that, and usually the player comes back and apologizes later.

And I happen to remember more than one or two swipes coming from ex-teammates after Stephon left both NJ and Phoenix....

Plus, he and Kurt Thomas nearly went to blows last year.

I can't stand S.A.S. anymore than the next guy when he's on TV, but he does have solid connections with current players and other sources. He's worked them over hard in a futile attempt to make his show relevant. His opinions and on-air personality are ridiculous, but his actual journalism (mainly through the Philly Inquirer) has been hard to knock.

True - that's sort of the nutty thing about Screamin A. Smith. As obnoxious as he is and comes across most of the time, the rest of the time, the guy is kind of a professional in the way that other blah-ing heads are not - which is what sort of makes his act frustrating.

I hate Steven Smith on ESPN discussing NBA. That's the obnoxious version.

I like Steven Smith doing player interviews on his show. That's the articulated version and he does some really good interviews.

The man is bipolar. Actually he plays bipolar to please his different audience at different times. He is a genius I guess.

Back to Marbury. I wouldnt be surprised if its true. Anyone with his talent, who decides to leave Kevin Garnet as a teammate out of jealousy has to have some screws loose somewhere. The ironic part is, KG is one of the few superstars to play with if you want to run most of the offense. What an idiot.

Yes. he's the guy who goes back to the coney island projects every summer and gives time and money back to his old brooklyn neighborhood. he also pledged to give over $1 million of his own money for hurricane relief in new orleans. he plays hard everynight and went 4 straight seasons without missing a game due to injury, despite having surgeries almost every off season. he averages over 20 points and 8 assists a game for his career

his teammates in phoenix were VERY upset when they traded him, i remember very clearly shawn marion and amare stoudemire questioning the organization publicly about the move.

maybe if you and a lot of other people would stop listening to so-called sports know it alls like stephen a. smith and about half the press covering the league, you would realize a lot of the stuff they say isn't 100% accurate. who did stephen a. talk to? did he even talk to anyone? NY sports writers make crap up all the time. it's how they get their mug on tv and in the papers, say something that is intriguing or controversial even if it is a lie. geez, wake up. if you don't like the way steph plays that's fine, but don't the media shape your opinion on someone as a person.

That's because the suns wer aborting and it looked like they were throwing in the towel for the season at the time - THAT's why Marion & co. were critical.

That doesn't mean they thought "stephon was a great guy, we miss our dear friend" - and presumably they're pretty happy the way that situation ended up....

they were critical because steph had done everything the organization and the team had asked. plus, marion, steph, and amare were a terrific combination the year before, and had excellent chemistry together. they went to the playoffs and played very tough against the spurs, and looked to be one of the rising teams in the league. both shawn and amare went down with injuries early and they were upset that they made steph the scapegoat for the bad start and didn't give that combination a real chance at becoming successful. it was obvious in the interviews with marion especially that they not only liked steph as a player but as a person.

Um... right, Hakeem06 -- Starbury is such a great presence in the locker room and such a winner on the court that he keeps getting passed from team to team so that everyone will have a chance at playing with such a wonderful guy.

There's a reason he's the Jim Jackson of top-tier PGs.
