I was just voting for the All-Stars and decided to check out the stats before putting down Franchise as my point, and it surprised me how many point guards (even ordinary ones) averaged a lot more assists than him. If Francis wants to pick up his game to that next level, he's either gonna have to be more assertive with scoring (no mre games with 7 or 8 shot attempts) or he needs to pick up his assists. Of course, he could be like Payton and do both [IMG]...What do you think?

P.S. I know he's popular so he'll get a bunch of votes, but there's no way he cracks the starting squad (Kobe, Payton, Kidd), and so I don't want him to be slighted by the coaches.

    You just noticed that?

Glove was my first pick (honesty is a virtue, I guess)

Kidd deserves second. I picked Steve instead, because of potential. SF has more potential with Cat at the hip. I'm not sure if JK has ever had anyone like this.

OK, I picked Steve because he's with Houston.

    abrocketsfan,

here's what Rudy said last night:

"The way our system is designed to work, Steve is usually making the first pass out of the double team. So, even though he's not getting credited with an assist, he is assisting."

You don't believe that? (the Rudy T quote on tertiary assists)

I do. I know it's debatable, maybe naive, but I believe that a pass-to-assist is the same thing as an assist. Damm, that's what PGs are made of...

Rudy is completely right because in the offensive sets the rocks run Steve is never the one making the money pass to the post or to the shooter coming off the pick he is usually the one setting the pick. The only play where Steve has an easy chance to get an assist is when we run the play for walt where he pops to the top. Also whoever said you had to vote for the best player? Lets not forget kobe bryant got voted in as a starter in his 2nd year and he wasnt deserving. VOTE FOR STEVE!!!!!

The other assist play is the bring it up the court and chuck it to Bullard for a 3.

Is it my imagination, or does Steve get a lot of assists to the Bull? He seems to get some off pick and rolls and some from penetrations and kick outs.

I wouldn't be surprised. Bull's an easy target. He's big, he's not moving once he finds a spot on the 3 point line, and most of the time he's the only white dude wearing a Rockets uniform on the court.
