People should not blame Steve for this loss. He was a hoss out there, taking it to the hole and drawing fouls. But god, Larry Smith. There are some assistant coaches who are learning to become head coaches. There are other assitant coaches who used to be good head coaches but for whatever reason now rides the bench as an assistant. There's a 3rd set of assistant coaches who have been in the league forever and offer great insight into the game. Finally you have our assistant coaches. You think Rudy is bad at making adjustments. Lord help us if he's out for more than a week. This thing is going to get flushed down the toilet and fast.
It's not Steve's problem today. He needs a coach to coach him. Larry Smith's the problem. He couldn't get Steve and other players play the way the game should be played. He's crap.
I agree i don't see how this game could be placed on Steve. But let put this one in the past and look to the blazers
BTW, just curious. Do you only post anything re Steve Francis on this game forum? It seems this way for me.
I have been asking for a change since the preseason. Our Guards cant play defence, except on rare occasions, when they want to! How can Francis play two guard, he cant defend. Mobley is just like Steve they stop thinking and play such selfish street ball. I say both must go and the sooner the better!! Along with our Assistant Coaches.( All of them)
Well, Allen causes problems for any 2 guard and Steve is a mediocre defender. Barry is too savvy for him at times.
Stevie is not to blame. 3 of his turnovers were bogus....carrying the ball...twice in one game?! give me a break. ALso...that charge call on him, Barry was in the circle...tooo close to the hoop...complete BS!!!
Uprising...HERE HERE !!! I agree, the 2 carrying calls were crap, and Barry was a good foot inside the circle. Steve played great, and right before our eyes he is becoming a good point guard. 10 assists tonight....and 9 boards......STEVE WAS THE MAN !!! DD
C'mon, aside from his tunrovers (which Yao is guilty of as well) and not making it a point to get Yao involved more (@ least he attempted to, unlike others) he balled his ass off. Anyone that blames Francis for tonight's loss is either: A) A Yao-only fan who really could care less how the ROCKETS do as a team... B) Hate Mobley and knows that he's good friends with Francis so the hatred just sort of trickles to him... C) Aren't real knowledgeable basketball fans...and... D) A combination of the three choices. Oh, Did u say something, Yetti? *hehe*
Yeah, I forgot about those two very-extremely questionable calls on Francis. And the charge call. And, DD, you're right, Stevie is really improving and becoming that great PG he should be.
AGREED! Stevie wasn't a problem tonight. Hell, he was the Western Coference player of the week!!!! He has been great. for all u poor guys wasting your time in this thread.... here is some entertainment. it isnt much...but it will have to do until u go to another thread.
Steve Francis is showing a movement in the right direction of becoming a good Point Guard, but he has lots of work to do to get there! He had better stay at this position because if he goes to the two Guard his poor defence will realy be noticed!
one thing Francis learn in this game.... don't look down on YOUR opponent, not the whole team (which they have learnt) but individual player "We had too many mental lapses in the game,'' said Francis. "You're going to lose when Kevin Ollie scores 13 points and Jerome James scores 13 points. I was involved in some of that. I didn't respect Ollie enough as a shooter and he killed me on the backdoor. I made some mistakes out there, but as a team we need to get better.'' maybe from now onwards Francis will play tough D on all his opponents.....which will be sweet
And you wondered why I called you a Yao only fan in another thread. This is absolutely ridiculous, one loss after being named player of the week and you blame the apocalyspe on Steve Francis.
I'm really beginning to think that there's a fundamental problem with the Rockets' defensive approach. Seattle's offense is very similar to the Mavs (scoring emphasis from the wings, lots of drive-and-kick, some 2-man) minus the pentrating PG. As we all know, the Mavs, namely Nowitzki, give the Rocks fits, and we all watched Lewis do his Nowitzki imitation last night. The Rocks just seem to be really soft on the wings, and lean on the shot blockers too much. (Can you tell what I'm identifying as the Rocks' cause for defeat last night? Its the 4th letter in the alphabet.)
