I just googled it. And here it is: http://www.charlierose.com/shows/2007/08/27/2/a-conversation-with-basketball-professional-steve-nash
okay...when you started this thread I thought you were talking about Steve Nash, now that I'm 5 minutes in - I'm assuming you mean Charlie Rosen (as having a low B-ball IQ). He sure asks some dumb questions.
"He was chosen Most Valuable Player of the NBA in 2005 and 2006." Wow. I mean, we watch the games and argue over who's the best and live, eat and breathe this league -- but it still blows me away that Steve Nash (STEVE NASH!) was MVP in 2005 and 2006. Nobody's a bigger fan of Nash than me, I had a picture of him tacked to my freshman dorm room wall back in 1998, but it still blows me away.
Two guys should be the MVP - the dominant 1 or the dominant 5. The winning, dominating 2, 3, 4 is so much rarer. BTW - I fully support his vote as Numero Uno 1 both times, coulda been three. Phx without Nash is like...Houston without (a dominating) Dream.
Ok this is probably a question that has been asked a million times, but I still don't know. Is the MVP an award for a player that was most valuable to the team he plays for or a player that was most valuable to the league (the best player in that league)?
The NBA has no official answer for that, and likes to continue that way because it stirs debate and brings publicity. In my opinion, the MVP a meaningless subject.
Yeah, I think Nash did a great job. I just got tired of Charlie Rose asking - "what is the real role of point guards" - "are point guards sent from God" - "what makes you so much better than other point guards" - "what, other than the obvious, does a point guard do" - **** Charlie, we know what he does - he won the MVP twice, I'm pretty sure people understand that Nash is a good player. I wish he got more into the reasoning behind Nash not playing for Team Canada (being disappointed that they never rehired Jay Triano, who is now part of the US coaching staff).
It was a very interesting interview. Nash was very articulate and thoughtful but I couldn't help but switch over to Conan ever few seconds because of Maggie Q. (10:28) "I'd never say never." you just did!
