http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../ap/20030522/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbc_mcnair_arrest Titans' Quarterback Steve McNair Arrested By TERESA M. WALKER, AP Sports Writer NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was arrested Thursday and charged with drunken driving and possession of a handgun. McNair was taken to night court, posted $3,000 bond and released. He is to appear in court June 26. He was due at an offseason team workout later in the day. "We are aware of the situation and are gathering facts," Titans spokesman Robbie Bohren said Thursday. "We will have a comment at an appropriate time." The weapon charge involves a 9 mm handgun found in a compartment beside the front seats. McNair reportedly has a permit for the handgun, but an intoxicated person may not legally carry a loaded weapon. McNair was stopped after a police officer saw a car weaving downtown before pulling into a convenience store, the arrest report said. McNair's breath smelled of alcohol and the player acknowledged drinking, according to the report. The player's eyes were bloodshot and a blood-alcohol test produced a reading of 0.18 — well above Tennessee's level of presumed intoxication of 0.10, the report added. McNair is coming off his best season, finishing third in the NFL's MVP race. He played through a variety of injuries and rallied the Titans from a 1-4 start to the AFC championship game. McNair had career highs in yards passing (3,387), touchdowns (22) and a franchise best for consecutive games with at least one touchdown pass (23).
So, does this mean all the shotgun formations in the Titans' playbook will be renamed handgun formations?
Like he needs a handgun, He would be the last NFL quarterback I would pick a fight with, including Dante Culpepper.
The modern athlete continues to disgrace his organization. When will it end? How hard is it to obey the law for the 8-15 years when you are in the public spotlight?
That's not good, but I was worried it would be a lot worse when I first started reading. Hopefully he corrects the problem as most of us do.
stupid mistake...hopefully he'll learn from it. i don't know him personally, but what i have heard previously would lead me to the conclusion he's a pretty honorable guy.
Game ending bombs will be renamed from 'Hail Mary' to 'Hail Bloody Mary'. (Sorry...I couldn't resist!)
hahah.. yeah, i was too lazy to do much editing, so i made the beer big enough to cover the football!!! hahaha i'm a lazy photoshopper!
Even though he was almost double the state limit and carrying a handgun? I would think that those combinations would get a normal guy some time, maybe? I'm just saying that he will get off light, like all the famous people do. Speaking of that, anyone see the Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry gets caught stealing a fork/napkin for a limo driver? The judge comes down hard on him since he is famous and makes him stand in front of some network awards show with a sign that says "I steal forks from restaurants!"
