Can someone explain what happened when SF got that TI vs the Spurs. Seems like SF gets very frustrated when another PG plays a little D-fense on him. He got a Technical against the Clippers when Dre was covering him tight....and if you think about that free throw that the clippers got out of it, it cost us the game. I love Stevie but he needs stay focused and not let the head games get to him....that's what a true leader does.
I was watching the game (got the Spurs feed) and I couldn't see what it was that got the tech called on him. The camera wasn't really on him. The Spurs announcers mentioned that Steve made some kind of strange hand motion, like he was upset, but that was it. Even they were confused as to why it was called. It was the rookie referee that made it, so I am thinking it was just a little bit of an itchy finger and him trying to command the respect of the players.
i thought he got it for whining like a little kid, i was a travel plain and simple, surely he could just take it on the chin, he also complained about a couple of calls previously, so it was building, he deserved it.
If I recall correctly, Steve's frustration started, or at least, become visible when he crossed the halfcourt line in the 2nd half and was called for an offensive foul by blatantly using his off arm to push his man away. Anyone else remember this? Perhaps this was after his technical foul.
Have you ever played basketball before? I don't know about anybody else, but when somebody's frustrating me with their defense, I usually get frustrated. It's human nature to me, and I still consider myself a leader in many walks of life.
codell think you are right, i recall (will watch game again tomorrow) a couple of calls in the minutes prior that were definitely dodgy and went against him.
When a defender is playing tough "D" on you, you think he is fouling you. In most cases he is, Stevie probably thought he was getting fouled so he probably said a few things and like someone said previously was building up. IMO, Francis has been doing a lot better this year on the Technical Fouls.
There was a play where Steve slapped Parker's hand away, but I don't believe that's a tech. He was called for an offensive foul on that. I thought the tech came after a play where he went and b****ed to a ref about a no-call. I think it was that juggernaut referee that looked like a misplaced bodybuilder.
SF was being dogged by TP! Francis was getting mad. Oh, well. Tough knocks, kid! It's a mental game too, Stevie!
You are right. I was just thinking that that O-foul with Parker near midcourt was a sign of his frustration last night and led up to his T.
