Is anyone else shocked or at least surprised by the transformation of Steve Francis? I know he's a world class athlete and can afford some of the best nutritionist/personal chefs and trainers etc. But it got me thinking just how dramatic his weight loss is. Last year when Francis came to the Rockets in his media day his face was noticeably full and round. In the few games he did play he was huffin and puffin for oxygen and looked like he was at least 15 pounds overweight. The thing that shocks me most is this guy is injured/rehabbing and I don't think he can be working out at 100%. Especially when it comes to Cardio (lots of pressure on the knees). He looks skinnier than when he first came into the league as a rookie. This means that Steve must have really been watching his caloric intake which I assume means he's doing everything he can to get back on the court. I think Francis spoke early on in his career for his love for deep fried foods/junk etc. So props to Stevie. last year recent
I honestly couldn't care less what sort of PHYSICAL condition he is in, as long as he can get into BASKETBALL condition. 2 very different animals.
well its good he is thinner....it can only be good for his knee. i'm still holding out hope he can contribute midseason. let's not forget he had MAJOR knee surgery.
Call me crazy but I think the better PHYSICAL condition Steve Francis or any person is in, the closer he is to getting into BASKETBALL condition. 2 very similar animals.
Man, I hope he can contribute this season (like scoring spark off the bench/meaningful minutes). I'm a huge Stevie fan, and if Artest is in the starting line up, we're going to need someone like Stevie to give us a scoring option off the bench... ...I'm also very excited about how thinner he looks. I can't wait to see him play this year.
Not if his knee isnt 100%. You can have all the weight off and muscle on but if your knee is shot then your knee is shot.
see my sig. please get healthy steve. dont forget this is his contract year to. im sure he would like to play a few more years and make some money.
CRACK?!!! I'm sorry but after seeing the difference in those pictures and his facial expression on the second one, that's the first thing that came to mind. Anyway, i think cardio is actually pretty easy to do nowadays. Don't they have special ellipticals that only put small amounts of pressure on the joints? and he's probably doing alot of underwater stuff. He's probably lost alot of muscle as well.
Our First glance at Bull this season, i personally love his commentating. i feel like we are constantly on the same page on calls, special plays, coaching moves and such. the guys great, another thing im looking more forward to this season.
Best-case scenario: Francis is ready to go a couple of months into the season, earns a spot in the rotation and provides us with a perimeter player off the bench that likes to drive to the basket. We've been lacking in that department for years. I don't see it happening though.
Losing weight is not always a good thing for NBA players. We'll just have to wait and see how his fitness level, speed, and most importantly his knees have adjusted to this new frame of his.
actually it is just the oppisite from what you are saying. it is better on the knees when you lose the weight. Kobe loss all his muscle on purpose last year because he was saying it was hard for him to move the way he wanted to when he was on the court
