O.k., my dad's a custom contractor and does big houses around the galleria and such and custom ranch houses. He's well-respected and has been on TV shows and in many magazines for his works. He and I are also huge Rox fans, and he got me hooked on them waaaay back in the early 90s (pre-championships) when I was a little kid. Today I got a text from my dad that said "So been hanging with Stevie shooting hoops. Talking draft picks. What ya think?" My first reaction was to laugh and think he was joking....nope, he went in to check out the house and could end up doing a bunch of work for him. To get to the point, me and my dad had been talking since last year's "failed" return to Houston about how out of shape and un-motivated Steve seemed a lot of the time....well today my dad said Steve appeared to be in better shape than he's seen him in many years, and that he had actually held Steve up from getting to the gym on time (Steve said he was just waiting to talk to my dad then he was gonna hit the gym for the afternoon). Apparently he's been training very, very hard this summer and I was impressed to hear that. If my dad goes back, I'll make sure I get some pics or even I get to go to the house too so this seems a little more credible. Either way, thought I'd share with y'all!
I think a lot of NBA athletes who seem "out of shape" when next to other NBA players would look very much in shape next to us ordinary mortals.
I hope the player formerly know as "Franchise" can return AND contribute...happy to hear he's working hard on a comeback.
If I were a "normal" person I'd agree. My dad has a personal trainer who's 200+ lbs and <7% body fat for a son though. I'd say he knows when someone's looking to be in a little better shape.
Still a bit skeptical of Stevie, even though I'm still a big fan of his. But if he comes in and does what he was expected to do last season, I'd be ecstatic.
Agreed. I didn't make this thread to try and create the "Steve is gonna be back like the old Steve!" type of buzz...I just thought him showin' some motivation and drive is a very, very good sign for us. Role player, starter, or 12th man - its never bad to have players who are motivated to get better.
oh man if he can actually contribute this season... this team would be scary. he would be that 3rd scorer / 6th man the team needs.
Re-read the O.G. post. I understand the credibility issues with my post count and the story told...should my dad get this job, I'll be posting pics to back this up.
glad to hear stevie's doing well and hitting the gym. hopefully he can get in the rotation and be a solid contributor this coming season.
Well, I meant on the court, seeing him actually getting playing time in the season and seeing him play well. Hopefully!
