Stevie gets his props from Espn.com.
    I love it.

Q: Who do you see, short term and long term, as the top 5 point guards to come out of the NBA draft in the last 3 years?
    Phil
    Woodlands, Tex.

Dr. Jack: This is how I rate the top 5 point guards in the time frame you specify: 1 - Steve Francis, Houston; 2 - Mike Bibby, Vancouver; 3 - Andre Miller, Cleveland; 4 - Jason Williams, Sacramento; and 5 - Antonio Daniels, San Antonio.

Francis needs to improve his decision-making, but he has all the skills and a solid maturity level. Bibby is improving rapidly, is a good play-maker who has sneaky-quick penetrating ability and shoots well from the perimeter. Miller is unspectacular but very efficient in every phase of the game. Williams sees the floor better than any of the others, but must improve on his passing methods (to reduce his turnovers) and his shot selection. Daniels is the best defender of the group, has good shooting range, but needs to improve his play-making judgments.

All in all - this is a very good group of point guards which will be in the NBA for a long time.

I really question his decision to pick Antonio Daniels. He is nothing more than a role player and has no ability to become an everyday starter. Jason Terry should be in this list before Daniels for sure.

To be fair, as Marbury is younger than just about all of them, he should be included.

Daniels #5???? Over Mobley, V. Cummings, Brevin Knight or Jason Terry???? I don't know what Jack was thinking there.

Mobley is not a point guard, although he played it last season, so I'm not surprised that he's not there. My picks would have been:
    1.Francis
    2.Marbury
    3.Miller
    4.Bibby
    5.Williams

remember, the question was the top 5 point guards to come out of the draft the last 3 years...this disqualifies marbury as he was drafted in 1996....

Agreed that Marbury wasn't drafted in the last 3 years, but the main point of the list was to identify the best young point guards. Thus my point was that in the larger spirit of the debate, he should have been included.

I would much rather of Mobley as my point guard than Daniels. I would rather have Terry, Knight or Cummings too. Daniels might not make the top 10.
