Not the exact words but same content:

Q: How do you feel about being here?
    A: Fantastic!
    Q: How's the big fellow?
A: He's very very very exicted, he's nervous.
Q: It seems you guys did not play him exactly the way you wanted to in the first half...
A: (quickly broke in) No, but it's about experience and learning each others' game. We are working on it, we will get better.
Q: What did you say to Yao about his first ASG?
A: You are on your own (laugh)

Pretty funny to watch that interview cause although the reporter was talking to Steve, most questions were about Yao. Guess that's how it goes with most of Steve's interviews :)

I read somewhere that Francis actually likes his role of sort of big brother to Yao because it deflects some of the spotlight off of him. He has said that, while he LOVES being voted on the All Star team by the fans, he would like to be put on by the coaches because it would mean his contemporaries feel he is deserving, not just the fans.

Yao is good for Steve and he knows it. The bigger and better Yao gets, so does Steve.

Steve doesn't care about all these baby relationship games. He's not like the crybaby loser Stephon Marbury. He forgives and forgets. He loves it. His job is easier. He has less pressure.

i hope francis doesn't get jealous of the attention yao been getting.
to francis: don't be a yao hater because you're not going to win. you'll be traded and never win a championship, not even close maybe when you're dreaming. you only need to shut up and shines in big games like in the lakers' game last month. if you do the above things, you'll be one of the widely known and loved athletes in the world from houston to bejing. you'll earn 10 times more than stephon marbury. remember him? marbury made a huge mistake of forcing the timberwolves to trade him because he didn't want to be in the shadow of kevin garnett.

Yao will hold a basketball camp this summer for point guards that want to learn how to pass...

    ...only Francis shows up.

I thought it was the Wizard's coach talking about sending Kwame to China during summer after the Rockets-Wizards game earlier this season. Or maybe its both  :D

Men... what a Rockets fan!!

Why don't we let Yao play by himself on the court. No need for team mates. By the way, whoever is saying Yao is gonna win championship is speculating at this point. Without proof, everything is only speculation. At this point, unfortunately Shaq-Kobe are much better duo than Yao-Francis. Maybe after Shaq is 37 years old and lose that leap, only then we hopefully have a chance.

I am Yao Ming fan. But I don't like newbies bashing other Rockets players thinking Yao Ming is God. IMO, those people who follow Rockets long enough (say joined clutchcity at 2000 or below) are the one who have enough credibility to bash other Rockets players.

I think I'm sparking some controversy here. I am prepared to be bashed.

Aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself? When did Steve ever say anything about being in Yao's shadow? You're one of those people who seems to want Steve and Yao to hate each other, but like they've proven so many times this season: THEY DON'T! STEVE AND YAO ARE FRIENDS BOTH ON AND OFF THE COURT!

You asked for it, cmellon. ;)

Do we need to regurgitate that stupid "What are the real fans?" thread? Since when did joining clutchcity authenticate one's loyalty as a Rox fan? Besides, didn't we all come here to talk about Rox-related issues. Well, bashing Rox players sure sounds like one of them.

Go Rockets and oh yeah, Rudy must go.

And I remember when people used to bash Allen Leavell.

Face it. More people have known Steve and will know him because he has been Yao's teammate. I voted Steve everytime when I voted for Yao, and I think a lot of people have done the same and they will continue to do so in the future......

Steve was voted in last year without Yao's help and despite being injured. He's a popular player.
