I recall listening to SF's interview when he first re-signed with us. I listened several times. I have now listened to his media day interview several times.

One thing stuck out in my mind. In both interviews, he emphasized that everyone knows that Yao is the first option, that everyone must know that and get on that same page. Very little about Tmac (just a comment that even Tracy is tired of averagint 28-29 ppg and not winning)

I wonder if that is sort of a passive aggressive way of him refusing to yield to Tmac on the perimeter; refusing to acknowledge that Tmac is the superior talent and this is clearly Tmac and Yao's team.

Is it just me or did others pick up this thought also???

(Note - this is not intended to stir the pot; just an honest observation that occurred to me the two times I've heard him interviewed as a Rocket since his signing)

I've noticed in his interviews he goes out of his way to pump up Yao and doesn't mention Tracy very much. What really matters is what happens on the court. If he gets with Adelman's program and puts any agenda aside, that's all I care about. It's almost understandable he might have some bitterness since Tracy asked to be traded here and everyone (including Tracy) knew SF had to go the opposite direction to make it happen.

Maybe he still holds some grudge over getting traded because t-mac wanted to come here. I mean i would hold some grudge if i was SF3. T-mac basically screwed SF3 by getting him traded to the worst team in the league and also the team with the dumbest GM. He loved it here in Houston.

But i think when game time comes he either passes it to t-mac or rafer or MJ will take his minutes. It's just that simple. No need to worry about spit because we're so deep at the 1 and 2!

Weren't they hanging out as friends in the off-season?

Yao is the reason why they both want to be with the Rockets. He's just stating the obvious.

The ONLY way for us to win a championship is if YAO can lead us there. Stevie knows it.

I agree and this bothered me as well. From all interviews, it seems like in Steve's mind, the totem pole is Yao and then everyone else (with he and Tracy at the same level). This is a problem. I don't know which of Yao or Tracy is the #1 option, but I know for damn sure one of the two is the clear cut #2 option with a drastic drop-off to #3, whoever it may be (MJ, Steve, Bonzi, Scola).

Steve needs to get this in his head if he is vying for the starting point guard position. I don't foresee too much of a problem though as he has always talked big and run his mouth but done everything asked of him on the court in sacrificing his game for the team.

Actually, the problem in the past is he didn't sacrifice his personal game for the team. Maybe things will be different this time.

Even T-Mac knows the key to winning is to go through Yao. I am sure come April everyone will be on the same page and winning will cure all.

That was uncalled for RR. I can think of a lot of things Rockets fans have b****ed about unnecessarily this off season, but this isn't one. One has to wonder what exactly is Steve's aversion to mentioning our 2nd scorer and best all around player in his interviews. I mean, for whateverer reason it is, it's still pretty f'd up if he's trying to be our starting PG.

Man I got this same exact vibe!

I wasn't gonna post on it though.

I really hope it's not the case.

I'm glad we got Steve back in the fold, but he strikes me as a bitter jerk. He seems defensive and he cuts reporters off before they're finished asking their questions.

I agree. It appears that those saying that he would return "humbled" were wrong. He's as arrogant as he was during his "Franchise" days.

Big guys win championships and Steve knows this. Steve and Mcgrady did hangout and Mcgrady help recruit Steve. Is Steve have some bitterness I'm sure, but we need his pit bull attitude on the court, I remember Van Gundy said you need to surround Yao and Tmac with a bunch of pit bulls, because of their low-key personality. I hope Steve has worked hard and cannot wait to see his first game to see how much explosion he has left.

WTF? Steve has always sacrificed for the team (when he had teammates worth sacrificing for), just look at the 03-04 season. His problems have always been with the fact that he doesn't have a pure PG (lack of court vision, high t.o.'s) or SG (Needs ball to set up scoring, not particular good catch and shooter) skillset. Still, he's always had the heart and intention to do everything possible to help the team win and he's never been about personal stats (seriously, did everyone forget we spent like three seasons wanting him to shoot more?). I'll never quite understand how he seems to always get lumped in with the Iversons and Marburys of the NBA.

Tmac didn't make the trade, Les Alexander and CD did.

This is a non-issue. They will hate the opposition, not each other.

My friend Doug and I saw the two of them at one of the Pro-City games. They didn't come close to each other. They barely acknowledged each other. They didn't appear to be friends at all.
