From http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/teams/rockets/ : Get ready for the Steve Francis show. The Rockets are excited about what Francis has been doing over the summer, in the weight room and on the court. Francis has been working so hard that he has been advised to scale back his workouts. Francis has been spending much of his time working on defense, which lagged far behind his offense last season. But that's understandable, given Francis' relative lack of experience (only one year of high school and one year of major-college ball). But Francis sincerely wants to be the best guard in the game and desperately wants to be an All-Star next season, and he understands that both those dreams hinge on his ability to play both ends of the floor, a la Seattle's Gary Payton. <hr width=75%> I need a tissue... ------------------ "There's 1,000 different things we're looking at, but there's not a lot of things there." -- Rudy T., apparently after taking a hit of acid. Man, Stevie should be an all-star for the next 7 years. Forget Vince Carter.....Steve Francis is the second coming of MJ! ------------------
Working on his defense? WOW!!! I am impressed. This kid has a good head on his shoulders ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
Yeah, stevie been ballin' all over the country.. Houston, DC.. etc. etc. I overheard them talking about their routine while I was at Fonde. They're going to westside at around 10-10:30 shooting jumpers and working on skills. My guess is lunch after that. After lunch at about 1-ish..they're hittin' up Fonde. After fonde's over at 3... they go chill.. then hit-up westide again at night. "3-a-day's" cat was calling it. I hope it pays off this upcoming season. Btw, all of 'em are real friendly. -Elie17 ------------------ Oh.. so this is how you add a signature huh? coo coo.
Off topic, but the same article says that Collier has lost 10 pounds of "baby fat" and seems to be fully recovered from the back problems that hampered him during the summer league. Good news heading into camp. T-18 days and counting... ------------------ "There's 1,000 different things we're looking at, but there's not a lot of things there." -- Rudy T., apparently after taking a hit of acid.
Yeah, I thought about that.....Maybe 10-11 years as an all-star. Thanks for correction. ------------------
Scale BACK his workouts??? WOW, Stevie must be in phenomenal shape! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
"he has been advised to scale back his workouts" Was Thomas Hamilton given the same advise? ------------------ How Sweet it is!
After hearing that I want to start voting for all-stars right now. Stevie can count on at least 100 votes from me. ------------------ I'm not clumsy, I just have to know my surroundings.
This is some damned good news. I knew he was working over the offseason, but I didnt know to this extent! I didnt think that he'd work out so much that he'd be advised to slow down... Francis is gonna be too good next year. And it's really good to hear about him working on his defense. I dont really expect him to have ANY weaknesses next year. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.

Anybody wanna compare Francis' workouts this summer to Hakeem's? ------------------ "The only problem is I always think of the guitar player from Dokken when I hear his name." -Traj, on the possibility of George Lynch joining the Rockets.
No I think Hamilton was advised to scale back to 3 Big Mac's per sitting. ------------------ I am the founding member of the Butt-Nekkid Party! White House here we come!
This is great news. Odds are Cat and Shandon also spent time with Francis during his workouts, and possibly MoTay and Ca-to too. If Francis' defense is up to league average, he will do many things: including, but not limited to making Shandon's life A LOT easier. But, we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. We can't herald Stevie 1st team all defense yet (while on the matter, Kobe didn't deserve it last year, grr), until he shows it in action, but if this backcourt all of a sudden has defense throughout (Cat improves too) they could be very dangerous against some West contenders (Phoenix?). Francis vs. Payton Part II next year, that's gonna be some fireworks. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
It's probably a little late to send the article to Cato. Francis has also been hangin' with Cat & recruiting Mo T. Anyone have a clue if Steve was a proactive leader and talked to KC in Iowa this summer? Scale BACK the workouts???!!! ------------------ GATER
