I think a black ball would look kinda wicked. ...either way it has to be the ball, i don't see what else it could be.

Can someone explain to me why the NBA would need to change the color of the ball? Just seems silly to me

I bet the color will be the same, but the material is supposed to be different.

Black Box? Isn't that the gizmo they'll recover to see what really went wrong when the Knicks crash with Thomas as Head Coach?

I'm thinkin maybe a new logo? Stern pulls out a card or something with the new logo on it? Something to reflect the "New NBA".....

    But it's probably the ball.

    Dirk's testicles.

Edit: Like those Russian tea dolls one box will give way to another smaller box untill dirk's balls are finely revealed.

    LOL, nice call.

My guess: I believe it's the Social Security lockbox that Al Gore campaigned on in 2000. Inside will be supplementary retirement funds for all americans. Thank you, NBA!

"Not quite sure why this has not gotten more press, but the NBA will be
using a new basketball design next season. The new ball is no longer
going to be leather, rather a composite surface, and has a strikingly
different look. One of the side effects of this new non-leather ball
will likely be the decrease in shooting percentages, as the ball tends
to “bobble” out a touch more than the normal NBA ball. The
new ball was used exclusively at the NBA pre-draft camp. The new ball
is also featured in print on the cover of the NBA’s 2006 draft
guide. Ironically, neither the NBA nor Spalding has put out a release
on the new ball yet. There had been rumors of the new ball design for
the past few months, it was surprising to see it in use in Orlando,
especially without any press on the new ball or its features –
    but it’s coming."

So, there will be more "in and out" shots? Great. The new material is certainly the work of PETA or some other animal rights group not wanting to use animal leather.

it's the new official rule book stating that the person defending a superstar guard will be give flagrants for everytime he looks at the superstar guard. It is written by david stern and knick bavetta in hopes of a 5 guard team to usher in the new era of basketball.

Riles will then trade Shaq for Earl Watson and Ray Allen forming

    Jason Williams
    Payton
    Ray Allen
    Earl Watson
    Wade

as the a dynasty is built.
